In “Why did Trump pull the trigger?” I observed this morning that George W. Bush chose to ignore the death and mangling of American soldiers facilitated by the Iranian regime on American soldiers serving in Iraq. The Hudson Institute’s Michael Doran subsequently drew on his own personal experience as the Senior Director for Near East and North African Affairs on the National Security Council serving George W. Bush to recall:
Finally we have a president who can read power differentials clearly. Trump realizes both that the wily ayatollahs have been waging an asymmetric war against us for half a century and that we don’t have to tolerate these exasperating Persian games. When I went to work in the White House in 2005, I was shocked to learn just how geared the American national security establishment was toward appeasing the thugs in Tehran. If there is one consistent theme to my work since that date is this: the Islamic Republic is the major cause of our problems in the Middle East, and appeasing it will only compound our problems.
Doran writes this here on X. It reinfornces one of the points I was making in my own comments.
FWIW, Christians in Iran call themselves Persian. Muslims call themselves Iranian.
Who will play Trump in the Trump movie? This story? Oh, there will be a movie.
Trump is so unique, I don’t think there is an actor who can portray him. Then again the actors who played Reagan and W weren’t very convincing either.
“Trump realizes both that the wily ayatollahs have been waging an asymmetric war against us for half a century . . . “
FDR in his speech to Congress on Dec 8th noted that the US was in a state of war with Japan since Dec 7th.
Then as now the US was in state of war without a declaration of war.
He played himself in the Home Alone movie
YESTERDAY, December 7, 1941 a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.[...]
I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.
Only Trump can play Trump!
It’s hard to believe that there are people on FR
who don’t know what Trump is doing.
It has to be willful ignorance don’t you think.
Yep.
Morgan Freeman
Besides the obvious goal of eliminating the Islamofascistnazi tyrants in Iran, there is one other facet. Both Venezuela and Iran were supplying Russia and the Chicoms with oil.
W. seems to have his lips surgically sewn together, with stitches being removed once or twice a calendar year, so that he can (vociferously!) agree with any Democrat about their negative opinions on President Trump.
Probably Obama.
Iran is a Russian ally. I don’t think Iran is supplying Russia with oil. Russia exports oil and nat gas.
Bush has never had anything to say about the Russia collusion hoax, like the revelation that Brennan manipulated the intel report to say that Putin wanted Trump to win, and all the other outrageous things that happened there. Nor the efforts to jail Trump to prevent him from running again. He seems psycho to me.
I’ve been keeping a list of PDJT’s accomplishments.
Nearly all involve, to one extent or another, cleaning up democrat messes.
There is no way PDJT would leave an America subject to narco-terrorists, a nuclear Iran nor a commie gulag hardly 90 miles from Key West.
Our Framers expected manly men like DJT in the executive office.
True.
“Russia exports oil and nat gas.”
Large countries import and export.
And for whatever reason I hated the people who supported and carried water for him even more.
So many professing "conservatives" who I'd expected to think for themselves, let themselves fall under Bush's spell.
I can't despise them enough.
