Did We Steal the Land?
American Thinker ^ | 02/27/2026 | M.E. Boyd

At a recent Grammy Awards ceremony, Billie Eilish stated publicly that “no one is illegal on stolen land.” This statement implies that the United States was unlawfully created and, therefore, any national laws regarding the illegal entrance of aliens into the country are invalid.

This is a very big issue. If the United States was unlawfully created (different from unfortunately created), a case could be made that the land that now comprises its sovereign borders should revert to the indigenous people then living within those boundaries, or in the alternative, be allowed to be claimed by majorities pouring into its undefended borders—a type of siege.

So, Was the United States lawfully created?

It was lawfully created if one accepts the premises of Western Civilization, Christianity, and the notion of advances in civilization. It is thought that indigenous American tribes existed in the continental United States for thousands of years.

Some scholars put that number at 23,000 years. This occupancy consisted of hundreds of tribes with spheres of influence over certain lands, but not individual ownership of parcels of land. These tribes mostly existed at a subsistence level, with advanced skills in survival crops and surface-level metallurgy—especially gold and copper.

Western Civilization grew out of Greek and Roman thought and practices, combined with the introduction and acceptance of Christianity, and incorporated the notion of advancement over subsistence, including the development of the person morally and intellectually. Christianity encouraged the curious, the industrious, and the innovative as discoverers of God’s creation.

So, the question is — How can what is the continental United States be legally “discovered” if peoples are already living on the land?

We stole it from the people who stole it from the people who were there before.

Of course we stole it. We stole it from the people who stole it before us. Who stole it from the people before them, who stole it from the people before them and on and on and on and on.

Welcome to the world.

Did We Steal the Land?

Do I care? No, I do not. Human history is nothing but groups of people "stealing" land from one another.

If you look at places like Detroit, the government through poor management and high taxes have made land worthless which is stealing.

I’ve got to give Billie Eilish credit here. She did a bit of research, and returned all of her real estate holdings to the proper Indian tribes.

Oh, wait. She never did any of that.
So I guess Eilish is just another hypocritical piece of trash.

This whole "stolen land" schtick is not originating with aggrieved natives.

It is leftist White folks trying to delegitimize the USA, and this is just one method.

Think of it. Payback for what "we" did to the Injuns administered by the same old
mostly White globalist ruling class against working class and middle class Whites.

When Europeans came to these (American) continents, the rule in place here at that time was very simple: If someone has something you want, kill him and take it. This is the rule the various tribes followed.

The Europeans were just much better at it.

I call it recentism, a condition where a person or group only go far enough back in time to justify their position

The Lakota demand black hills back, but there is documented 7 changes of control of black hills, none peacefully

Mexicans demand back parts of US, exactly how did “Mexico” come to control those lands they demand back

An Europe what a mess of historical claims, can france claim Moscow, they did once occupy it?😂

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the natives have open borders?

“Stolen land” is a weak argument against the facts of life. Native Americans were busy fighting and “stealing” turf from each other long before Europeans began to show up. Europeans just joined in. And won.

This was from a movie but every single thing he says here is 100% true....and yes, I know several Native Americans who confirmed everything he says here.

All land is stolen. Before we stole the continental US the Indian tribes routinely stole sections of it from each other. Then the Spanish and French and Dutch stole some. And of course the British.

Now the Mexican and Central American poverty class are trying to steal it back. 😆

That’s simply the way this world works. If you conquer the land, it is yours. (Unless it’s Israel, of course).

They became a part of Mexico when Mexico kicked out Spain. They were under control under the Spanish crown longer than they were under Mexican control.

These Woke fad ideologies are all based on the premise that the United States or the West was the first group to engage in historically bad behavior. Whether its militarily taking land from weaker groups like the Indians, or having slavery, the US / West was just doing what every other country in every other part of the world did for thousands of years. But then we stopped doing it.
