Oregon House to vote on bill to reverse federal tax breaks, add $311M in revenue
KATU Oregon (ABC) ^ | 02/25/26 | Staff

“ SALEM, Ore. (KATU) — Oregon lawmakers will vote on legislation aimed at undoing several federal tax changes at the state level as lawmakers work to stabilize the state budget. Senate Bill 1507 is designed to “disconnect” Oregon’s tax code from portions of H.R. 1 — President Donald Trump’s recent federal spending and tax package — after the changes automatically flowed into state taxes. The state’s Legislative Revenue Office estimates it will generate about $311 million in additional revenue during the current biennium, money Democratic leaders say is needed to maintain funding for schools and core government services.“

People are PISSED. Oregon demoncrats think they can cancel out Trump tax cuts and hand the money back to themselves! It’s like Oregon isn’t even part of the US anymore. Instead they just create new rip offs! Read the comments section.

Some very weird stuff. New York and other blue zoo’s are bragging about raising taxes in a bizarre contest to out-tax each other and celebrate it. Mangoofu in NYC is currently bidding 66% of a tax rate for his city and state.

It’s like Oregon isn’t even part of the US anymore.

Like a civil war? Perish the thought.

"...Second, it blocks businesses from immediately deducting the full cost of new equipment and machinery purchases.
Instead, companies must again spread those deductions over multiple years, a change expected to increase near-term state tax collections..."

"...In addition to rolling back the tax breaks, the bill expands Oregon’s earned income tax credit for low-income residents..."

Amazing. They cannot have any real industry in that state.

That’s just over $70 per citizen (counting illegals or not - I don’t know).

yeah if the state has a voting system that guarantees them success every november—what do they care what the voter thinks.

Once you turn people into communists and they believe republicans are racist nazis, you can screw everyone and drag the state down for decades.

“Senate Bill 1507 is designed to “disconnect” Oregon’s tax code from portions of H.R. 1 — President Donald Trump’s recent federal spending and tax package”

.

Perhaps Oregon should be “disconnected” from the US.

Wouldn’t that make them subject to the 10 - 15% Global tax?”

.

The Oregon tax trap. If you get a federal refund, you have to report that on your Oregon income tax. If you get an Oregon refund you have to report that on your federal taxes.

Then they have the infamous bottle bill. You have to pay a deposit on your bottled and canned drinks. So you got this garbage can full of empties next to ypur house. Then to get your deposit back you have to go to your local store and stand in line at “the great equalizer” and feed your stinking sticky cans as you stand on they stinky sticky concrete floor. It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor, if you want your money back, you have to do it.

Grew up there, moved away long ago. The downhill slide started in the 80’s and just kept accelerating. We knew it was just a matter of time.

Turned in my Oregon DL in 2002. Only go back to visit, hunt, and fish. Still have friends and some family there. Most still solid conservative, but the offspring and a few wives are rabidly woke for the most part.

They all hunt and fish. Every last one, to include the “woke” are highly upset about the hunting-fishing-trapping ban ballot petition.

Gonna hafta speak with them about this tax thing.
I’m sure they are not happy.

FWIW, Oregon was an absolute paradise before the infestation.

Their TDS is so advanced, they have a death wish for their state.

This is historic-level craziness.

So does NYUC. They appear to be in competition to see who can raise taxes the most.

Here’s an idea, the US being $40 trillion in debt how about the feds just cut off most of the countless billions to the states.

Congress puts some $6+ billion on the debt every day so it really doesn’t matter.
