Around a dozen U.S. Air Force F-22 fighters have landed in Israel, according to a U.S. official.
The fighters were spotted taking off from the Royal Air Force base Lakenheath in the UK on Tuesday morning before they flew to Israel.
The base has in recent weeks been a waypoint for U.S. military aircraft on their way to the Middle East as part of an ongoing military buildup.

What is the opposing air power that necessitates a dozen Raptors?
I suggest those birds have more utility in the Pacific.

And I ran, I ran so far away?
Do you not know what we are planning to do with Iran if they don’t come to an agreement?
“Do you not know what we are planning to do with Iran if they don’t come to an agreement?”
Of course I do.
But none of it requires F-22s. There is no Iranian Air Force to speak of, nor ANY air force in the region that can even challenge our F-35s and F-15E Strike Eagles.
In any attack on Iran , the IRGC is going to go full out , maximum effort against Israel using all it's resources in the region.
If Iran goes all out, so does Israel, which is a very bad thing as a dramatic military response can inflame the anti Israel middle east street in a counter productive fashion.
The F-22 does some amazing things and provides vital capabilities and also the ability to stage non Israeli attacks out of bases in Israel
How, when, and where the F22s will be used against Iran will probably be withheld until the event is over.
If there are those on this board that actually know when and where the F22s will be used, please do not post the information on this forum prior to their use.

Throw a call into the Joint Chiefs. I’m certain they’ll find your input invaluable.

If I’m not mistaken, the F-22 has a significantly HIGHER ceiling than the F-35. This could also be critical when the SHTF.
The Raptor’s primary mission is to get into contested airspace and neutralize anti aircraft missile systems while taking out any enemy fighters that manage to get airborne.
What needs to be done there that cannot be done with F-35, F-15 and follow-up with heavy bombers?
The F-22 is designed to take out opposing air superiority fighters. It’s designed and built to take on the J-20 and similar aircraft.
LMAO. They have S300 antiair systems.
“The Raptor’s primary mission is to get into contested airspace and neutralize anti aircraft missile systems”
That is the role of the F-35 Strike Fighter and there’s none better.
The F-22’s role is to kill other fighters.
“LMAO. They have S300 antiair systems.”
The F-35 is the platform that deals with those, and better than the F-22 can.
Uhhh….
The F-22’s were not of utility during operation Midnight Hammer???
Last I checked the Raptors could drop bombs….
FYI….we are becoming organized and fitted up to throw everything at
the islamic devils we have
The F-22 has a lot of very advanced capabilities that would provide significant advantages in any possible conflict with Iran
More so than the F-35
They’d be escorts for B2s to ensure on time delivery of special gifts for Ramadan
Israel is roughly 300x85 miles
feels kind of small for so many top end fighters to be sitting on the ground.
granted, nothing in the area is that accurate but it still seems a bit risky.
It also has intimidation capabilities off the charts.
The Iranians have some very capable drones, some based on the Lockheed RQ-170 that Obama essentially gave them back when he was president.
Properly armed these drones make very formidable weapons that are very hard to detect and equally hard to target.
The F-22 is the best option for this threat and any others that Iran can deploy.
Iran likely has some very nasty WMDs including radiological weapons that can cause terrible damage if they get through
Given Israel's tiny size, a reasonably small number of F-22s can do an amazing job of shutting down the airspace to Iranian weapons and also of dealing with Iranian air defense systems.
Sending the F-22s also sends a message to the rest of the world, especially China, about how serious the US is about deterrence and what the US can really do if and when we need to.
Doh, I misread the article. I thought it was F35. I was thinking yes you just made my point. Then I realized the article is about F22 and F35. LOL.
Sorry.
Yes I concur the F35 is better for this role.
