Hungary to block 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine in Russian oil row

Hungary will block a 90-billion-euro ($106 billion) EU loan for Ukraine until it resumes oil shipments to the country via the Druzhba pipeline, its foreign minister said on Friday after Budapest said it would tap strategic reserves to tackle a shortage.

Hungary and Slovakia, which have the only remaining refineries in the European Union using Russian oil through Druzhba, have been trying to secure supply since flows were halted on January 27 following what Ukraine said was a Russian drone attack that damaged pipeline infrastructure.

Both countries have blamed Ukraine for the delay in restarting the flows for political reasons.

Thought Zeepers would be all over this. Either its time zones or they haven’t rolled out of bed yet.

---- "Thought Zeepers would be all over this. Either its time zones or they haven’t rolled out of bed yet."

Given the late night posts on another very long thread, your guess is apt.

Been reading for a couple of years now that it was "Zaluzhny" -- no "Zelensky" -- no "Zaluzhny" -- no "Zelensky" -- no, some other small group but Ukrainian nonetheless, that blew up Nordstream.

And then then Druzhba pipeline was attacked. Seems as if "someone did something." And the stories flow on. Such as:

From the Ukrainian press....

Major Yevhen Karas stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has a tough character, is not prone to compromise, and will not accept decisions imposed on Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET, this was stated by Yevhen Karas, commander of the 413th separate battalion of unmanned systems "Raid," in an interview with Nataliya Moseychuk.

"Zelenskyy has a tough character. He likes this fight. If he saw Putin, he would not restrain himself and could punch him in the face," Karas said.

And if the US starts pressuring him to betray his country, he might even shoot himself, Karas believes.

"Zelenskyy is the kind of person who could shoot himself. He is not a weak-willed guy, he has ambitions, Karas believes."

In late 2024, from a Spanish YT channel....

"Nuclear war is good for Ukraine" | Yevhen Karas, Ukrainian commander Intereconomía, 20 December 2024

And from about two months ago....

Volodymyr Zelensky décore le néonazi Yevhen Karas, fondateur du groupe C14 Daily Motion, posted circa 27 December 2025

Translation from the French: "Volodymyr Zelensky decorates neo-Nazi Yevhen Karas, founder of the group"

And another hotlink....

Zelensky’s Officer Threatens Hungary With Military Invasion + Video Magyar Nemzet, 11 February 2026

If the Ukrainian source, CENSOR, is to be accepted, then "negotiations" are a song-and-dance to continue things.

And Hungary is reacting to actions by the government in Ukraine, which will of course be deemed as "unfair."

Zelensky is actually threatening Hungary with invasion?

This is insane.

NATO would have a valid Article 5 demand from Hungary to intervene on behalf of Hungary against Zelensky.

How crazy would that be? Not that Hungary would necessarily need NATO. They would kick the Ukrainian forces out of Hungary and do a lot of damage to the Ukraine in the process.

The sort of desperate and irrational messaging coming out of Ukraine these days is sobering - they are even pushing the use of nukes.

You seem to be on the wrong side.

Rubio Emphasizes Trump's Support for Leader of Hungary Before Tight Elections

The U.S. secretary of state said in Budapest that the president was “deeply committed” to the success of Viktor Orban, who has boasted of creating an “illiberal state.”

Hungary and Slovakia, which have the only remaining refineries in the European Union using Russian oil

Orban is clinging to his last days of power, being down 10-20% in polls and the election next month. The blowback to all these strongmen trying to flex is going to be immense.

Neither Trump nor Rubio gets to vote in the Hungarian election, just Hungarians.

And even Hungarians have made it clear that they’ve had enough of Orban.

On April 12th, another Putin lackey gets the boot ... enjoy!

I’m half hungarian. Grandpa’s village was Kocsord.

You are wrong in everything you post. You seem to have a severe case of mental illness. It’s not often I want to meet my fellow “countryman”, but your idiotic statements sure make me want to. Maybe you’re just trying to rage bait people, who knows. Everyone I know in western Canada thinks Orban is doing great, including the Hungarian families that came out last summer for a big visit and BBQs. Get off reddit or whatever other crap you’re on. The audacity to try to speak for Canadians or Hungarians, what a tool.

I said Orban is currently on track to lose on April 12th.

Are you predicting he’s going to win?

Nothing burger really.

Hungary walks an annoying line; on one hand it insists on getting its fuel supply from Russia even though Orban knows why Europe needs to end its dependence on a serially hostile supplier.

Russia’s been blackmailing eastern Europe using fossil fuels as a weapon since 2008, if not earlier. Bending over backwards to appease Putin when you never get anything meaningful back is a pointless, self-owning, dumb strategy... unless you’re on Putin’s payroll.

Hungary is also trying to keep the American administration onside by maintaining an agressively anti-European stance, which conveniently helps Putin more than it helps Hungary.

Trump in his first term was the one calling for Europe to wean itself off its Russian dependencies. Now they’re actually doing it, he’s flip-flopping between sitting on the fence or actively trying to set up a trade deal with Russia, which offers precisely crap all. The idea it has tens of trillions of dollars is bonkers; if Russia was sat on THAT MUCH DOUGH, all of its existing allies would be swimming in cash instead of being borderline third world.

He’s a Ukrainian living in Canada. There are two or three of those on here.

The Americans on here believe that Orban and Hungary make more sense than most Europeans these days.

I’m saying you’re not a conservative Canadian. You’re not even a conservative anything. I’m saying you’re a rage baiter and you ought go to head to the frontlines if you care so much.

I speak for a large number of Canadian infantry vets when I say Ukraine can go pound sand, we have our own problems at home. For Europe? The EU is a an evil commie org. Poland, Hungary are some that have stood up to it.

Suuure you are. Just like you’re a “conservative.”

If you had any respect for the late founder of this site, you’d know he wasn’t a fan of that leftist “Slava Ukraini” crap. That’s Pelosi/Soros/Obama garbage.

What’s the matter? GOP Zeeping Room not cutting it for you?

There’s not one of us Canadian infantry vets or anyone else I know in western Canada that supports what you say. You bring shame and other nonsense and mislead what people think about Canadians. You are the reason people think Canadians are weak and a bunch of commies. I’m personally disgusted by your behavior. I put on the uniform and did 3 tours as I was saying and I’ve spent time in Ukraine. What a disgusting cesspool of depravity that craphole is, and my Ukrainian buddies say the same. I guess a big question would be, where does your love for the place come from if anyone with two working brain cells can’t stand it, and we know we have problems right at home. Quite frankly between western Canada and my southern neighbours who we love, we have enough issues to sort out without worrying about a bunch of child traffickers over there and their cover up for the elites who used the place for their evil activities. Your hate for Russia is based on media, and if I had my way, I’d take away your internet or ability to type. Stop using my country, my ancenstor’s country or anything. You may speak from your own mouth and that’s it. Speak this way in public around me or my brothers and you’ll find yourself on the wrong side of a boot.
