All flights to and from El Paso International Airport in Texas have been halted for “special security reasons,” the Federal Aviation Administration said early Wednesday.

I’ve seen very little in the news, but it would not surprise me if Trump were going for a full court press against the cartels. The news on this would be kept low key so as not to embarrass the Mexican president. One thing that would probably cause this alert would be if intelligence had picked up information that short range anti-air missiles had been imported into Mexico.
Those missiles could be sourced from Cuba, China or Iran. Each of the aforementioned maintain significant intelligence efforts in South and Central America and those operations are essentially self-financing quasi government cartels.
In addition, many countries maintain a supply of weapons from a variety of states so they can be used in operations and provide plausible deniability.

I have a buddy who is a higher ranked Army officer at Bliss. He said this caught them flat footed with no warning so happened it’s something real and not a test of any kind.
