At least three people are dead and several others injured after a car crashed Thursday into a grocery store in the Westwood area of Los Angeles, authorities said.
The crash was reported around 12:11 p.m. local time along Westwood Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
fficials confirmed that three people died at the scene.
At a news briefing, a LAFD spokesperson confirmed that nine people were involved in the incident, prompting calls for additional ambulances and emergency resources.
"This is becoming more of a static incident, and it's being investigated so far as an accidental traffic collision," the spokesperson said.
"It appears the driver, the elderly driver, was trying to swerve out of the way of a bicyclist and all we know is that that elderly driver in that single vehicle did strike a bicyclist," he added.

Happens all the times in the all new illegal immigrant Amerika.
Elderly driver, 70, first hit someone on a bike, he didnt die, but then she “Lost control” and went into the grocery store where people were eating..just sad..am familiar with the area but never went to that market(Its an asian food store so never had a reason to go there)
“Elderly”? At 70? That’s just late middle age!
She went peacefully in her sleep, just as I would like to go.

“It appears the driver, the elderly driver, was trying to swerve out of the way of a bicyclist and all we know is that that elderly driver in that single vehicle did strike a bicyclist,” he added. Yeah, they better stay out of the way.
Yeah, sometimes they need their licenses taken away. My m-i-l reached that stage but she was much closer to 80 by then.
Heck, *I’M* 70 and can’t yet wrap my mind around being a *senior* or *elderly*. I’m not.
Agree! New California DMV rules are targeting seniors (that's my preferred term) over 70. They ought to go after late teens and early 20's drivers, they're more reckless. At 75, I'm driving more carefully than when I was younger.
74 years here. I’ve always been a very careful driver, extremely defensive and head-on-a-swivel. Still have excellent reaction times, too. If I bump something off the counter, I can grab it before it hits the floor.
I’m more cautious behind the wheel than ever. I wish I could pass that down to our mid-30s son!
Don't know the status of the driver but I do know that in California, they're always removing car lanes and replacing them with bus and bike only lanes, squeezing car traffic into fewer lanes while forcing drivers to travel across a bike lane to make a right turn.
They call this a "road diet." Seriously.
Hey kid, I know seniors who are in their 90's still driving cars. Then again, my older sister is suffering some dementia and her daughter took away the car keys when my sister was 65 or so. Same happened to my mom, my siblings stopped her from driving around 65. But me (75) and other siblings (80) still drive fine. Just keep your brain sharp and your eyes focused, and don't let anyone call you elderly!
75 here and I’m still a very careful driver with quick reaction times. Went for a long drive with my brother-in-law who is in his 60s last month, and speed limits are just a suggestion to him.
That's me too. Over a year ago, while parked in a AAA parking lot while waiting for my wife, I sat in the car and watched an old couple trying to reverse out of the stall next to my car. The guy backs out his F-150, but didn't turn his steering wheel enough and crashed into the rear of my car. Then he backs up and hits a car on the other side. I immediately jumped out and confronted him to stop him from leaving. So we traded ID information. I was shocked to find they were many years younger than me and my wife, because they looked real old.
Despite the damage to my car with dents and broken chrome, he tried to rub it saying it would buff out. Thank God my dash cams were operating, at first his insurance was denying my claim until I sent them the videos. They guy in his 60's was reckless (and being a jerk).
Perhaps some bollards should be placed to prevent cars ingressing entrances? Just saying, might be cheaper than the lawsuits.

About long drives, last November I drove over 3,000 miles for 20 days through six EU countries in two different rental cars. I didn’t get a scratch on either vehicle. I had turned 84 the preceding August. I like to tell by buddies that I’ve never had an accident sober in my life! They always like to hear that one!
“This is the city,”.....
Illinois raised the age for the elderly to take the driver’s test because they are safer than younger ones. If I remember correctly, you have to be 80 to retake the driver’s test.
I heard this grocery store contained ICE...
