Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr walked back his previous comments that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are detaining legal citizens and “five-year-old kindergartners” instead of “rooting out violent criminals.”

In the wake of 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti’s killing at the hands of federal agents on Jan. 24, Kerr conceded during a postgame press conference, “It’s very sad what’s happening.” Just two weeks prior, Renee Good — a mother of three — was shot three times by an ICE officer and died in her SUV.
The latest fatal shooting in Minneapolis prompted widespread protests, which Kerr hoped would ultimately incite change. “We have a lot of empathy for the people here,” he said following the Warriors’ 108-83 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Jan. 26.
“And we’re really hopeful that the protests here and nationwide will lead to a much better solution for immigration. You know, it’s not like they’re rooting out violent criminals. They’re taking five-year-old kindergartners and U.S. citizens and detaining people.
“Immigration is a problem that needs to be addressed, but it needs to be addressed by Congress, you know, legislatively. Not by military force in the streets pulling people from their homes.”
Kerr appeared to be directly referencing Liam Conejo Ramos, a five-year-old boy who — alongside his father — was taken into federal custody by immigration officials while returning home from preschool. The pair was relocated to a federal detention facility near San Antonio, Texas.
Speaking to reporters several days later, Kerr issued an apology for spreading “misinformation” after admitting that he “misspoke” earlier in the week.
“I definitely misspoke, and I knew that ICE was arresting some criminals,” the 60-year-old said prior to Golden State’s 131-124 defeat to the Detroit Pistons
“I immediately regretted it because I knew that to be the case. My point is that they’re also arresting people and detaining citizens and people who should not be being detained.
“The manner in which they’re doing it, as you see, is riling everybody up all over the country.”
Kerr attributed his slip-up to the high emotions throughout Minnesota during the Warriors’ four-day road trip. Golden State was slated to play the Warriors at the Target Center on Jan. 24, but the contest was postponed by the NBA in an effort to “prioritize the safety and security of the Minneapolis community.
“Being in Minneapolis for those four days was incredibly emotional and powerful. It was a very difficult time for all of us,” Kerr added. “At the end of those four days, it was a pretty emotional time.
“I misspoke, and I apologize for the misinformation. I hope everybody else out there who’s saying stuff that’s not true, please apologize, too... I addressed everything I want to address in Minneapolis.
“That was false what I said and so I want to correct that for the record.”
With all the cameras and hoopla in Minneapolis by protesters, wouldn’t you think someone would have captured by now what this guy says is or was happening? ICE is going into homes/schools for no reason - get and circulate the pictures!!!!!

Kerr did not misspeak. He lied. Kerr is a liar. It was intentional, and he thought he would have the sympathy of the trogs in Minnedishu, and Californistan.
How many US Citizens were killed, shot, stabbed, or raped by illegal immigrants, or lost their lives to drugs brought into the country during these two weeks?
I t won’t matter how many are deported - as long as our laws incentivize illegal immigration, there will be a lot of illegal immigrants here.
