Democratic Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott accused a local reporter of racism Friday when she questioned why his SUV cost over $163,000.
The 2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer was the most expensive executive vehicle used by a Maryland public official, Baltimore-area television station WBFF reported, coming in at twice the cost of the vehicle used by Democratic Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland. Investigative reporter Tessa Bentulan, who works for WBFF as part of a venture called Spotlight on Maryland, questioned Scott about the vehicle’s cost.
“How do you justify the cost for this vehicle?” Bentulan asked. Scott responded, “We’ll just stop you right there. We get it. We understand that your station has this severe right wing effort underway.”
After Bentulan raised the price of previously purchased vehicles, Scott added, “I did answer the question. Just because you didn’t get the answer you wanted and your racist slant is one thing.”
WBFF, which partners with The Baltimore Sun and Washington, D.C.-area TV station WJLA (an ABC affiliate in the Spotlight on Maryland enterprise), is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting Group. Former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby asked the Federal Communications Commission to investigate WBFF’s license in 2021 after it ran critical reports on her.

WBFF is the only local Baltimore station that holds Maryland government officials to account. Props to them.
Why isn’t WCBM interviewing him?
It’s always about race with idiots like Scott.
I’ve lived north of Baltimore for 16 years. Two mayors have ended up in jail, one was remarkably incompetent. Scott hasn’t been caught yet but I believe there are some significant financial shenanigans going on with huge amounts of money going to a shadowy organization known as Safe Streets which employs only ex cons to help as community organizers. He refuses to identify any of these employees, how much they are paid, where they work or what their backgrounds are.
Of course he gets rolled around in a massively expensive Grand Wagoneer.
WCBM goes after the Md. Grifters, but it’s a radio station.

It just seems like a cultural thing. Scam the money from others. Dress it up as Redistribution of Wealth from those other people to Me. It’s a noble cause.

My question is, does the Grand Wagoneer have the McIntosh Stereo option?
Boy does he look like a chump.
In short, he is saying, “It’s our turn!”
Those driving gov’t cars should get Ford Crowns to drive or the equivalent.
These people get these huge, high priced leased cars, like they are rappers, when they should be given a monthly stipend only for the car they choose that THEY sign for. Instead, the states are on the hook for these $1000+ monthly lease payments.
And, in my imaginary world, throwing race in the argument as a defense should be grounds for instant dismissal. If you can’t be held to account for wrongdoings without trying to put the blame on others through a lowdown, slanderous lie, they should be gone.
