Warning cry for Trump as southern MAGA stronghold is FLIPPED to blue as Democrats sweep Senate election
Daily Mail ^ | 02/01/2026 | Victoria Churchill

Republicans have faced a bitter blow after a set of special election results on Sunday morning revealed that a former GOP stronghold has flipped to the Democrats.

On the state level, Democrat Taylor Rehmet flipped the 9th District in the Texas State Senate, defeating Republican Leigh Wambsganss in a runoff.

The Fort Worth-area district went for Donald Trump by 17 points in 2024 - and the sweeping win this weekend could offer warning signs for Republicans ahead of this November's midterm elections.

The president had urged his supporters to vote for Wambsganss in Saturday's election in a Truth Social post.

Rehmet, a veteran of the US Air Force and current labor union leader, dedicated the victory to everyday working people.

With 95 percent of the election results tallied, Rehmet led Wambsganss by over 14,000 votes despite being outspent nearly 10-1, by over $2.2 million.

*** Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick chimed in as well, stating that the 'results from SD 9 are a wake-up call for Republicans across Texas. Our voters cannot take anything for granted,' while acknowledging that 'low turnout special elections are always unpredictable.'***

***

On the GOP front, incumbent Texas Senator John Cornyn is facing two formidable opponents in his own primary in Texas: Attorney General Ken Paxton and US House of Representatives member Wesley Hunt.

In the Democratic Primary, progressive firebrand Jasmine Crockett, who currently serves in the US House of Representatives, is facing off against James Talarico, a Texas state representative.

To conservatives, please vote early and vote often in this upcoming election.

To the commie, pinko, bedwetters, remember that Election Day is on the second Tuesday in November.

The four years of commie control and open borders is starting to pay dividends to the D-Rats.

God help the U.S.

Republican voters are WAY too comfortable in thinking someone else will do the voting work for them.

Apathy kills.

The good news is, we must follow the DemonRAT Party of Death’s technique to take America away from us. They’ve forked up. It is now acceptable in America to shoot federal law enforcement officers. When the RAT homos send them to confiscate our guns, they will become street legal targets. Thanks RATS. We’re stealing your handbook and we’re going to use it.

They have all their eggs in the basket thinking Trump can somehow do it all. Some of the heavy duty Trump influencers are bullies who castigate and alienate people who voted for Trump.

You can’t bust up the big party of people who voted in 2024 and expect those people are going to show up and vote for a bunch of weak kneed RINO do nothings for Congress.

Yes, we are in big trouble.

Trump is too busy with foreign policy and venting over Truth Social to focus on midterm messaging and vote turnout.

Bottom line - Senate Repubs haven’t done sh’t to codify maga agenda, no Dave act, no ending of filibuster, no major arrests, no campaigning on conservative principals. On top of that, we got Rino traitors in the party sabotaging it all. The only one fighting is Trump and his team. I see no other efforts being made by senate and house Repubs for my vote.

The problem is Republicans run awful candidates. Democrats were smart enough to run a blue collar worker in a MAGA stronghold.

MAGA runs down the GOP every chance it gets. So, why is it a surprise when they stay home?

Now is the time to transition from Trump.

Events by Turnjng Point.

Obviously, Charlie Kirk was great at what he did. Unfortunately, he was a tremendous loss for our side. And we haven't been able to replace him.

“MAGA runs down the GOP every chance it gets”

That is an interesting take. I think it is mostly the opposite. It is the GOP that runs down MAGA all the time because MAGA is taking its power away and shining the light on the uniparty. Yea, when the likes of the Bush’s, Kemp, Tillis, McConnell etc attack MAGA, they get hit back.

The GOP is it’s own worst enemy. There should have been an America First Party and we could have put the old worthless GOP on delete. They really had nothing to offer but war and a few tax cuts for their buddies. Otherwise, they stand for very little. They are the people blocking us from being able to save the country.

Those people will never win any national election anymore. They will bleed out just like the GOP in California and New York.

We’re 10 years in and still there’s a chasm between MAGA and GOP with a third faction, America First that disagrees with MAGA and doesn’t want infinity H1bs imported.

I live about ten miles from Southlake, so not in that district. But we are all being overrun by carpetbaggers from yankee states and California. Before I get too upset with what the results mean, I’d like to see if registration of new voters has changed the district since the ‘24 election.

Midterms will be lost because of the GOP doing nothing. Doing nothing for the voters creates apathy. You have that somehow turned around.

People think “why the hell vote for people who won’t advance the agenda that I voted for”?
