Donald J. Trump Truth Social Post 06:29 PM EST 01.29.26
Based on the fact that Canada has wrongfully, illegally, and steadfastly refused to certify the Gulfstream 500, 600, 700, and 800 Jets, one of the greatest, most technologically advanced airplanes ever made, we are hereby decertifying their Bombardier Global Expresses, and all Aircraft made in Canada, until such time as Gulfstream, a Great American Company, is fully certified, as it should have been many years ago. Further, Canada is effectively prohibiting the sale of Gulfstream products in Canada through this very same certification process. If, for any reason, this situation is not immediately corrected, I am going to charge Canada a 50% Tariff on any and all Aircraft sold into the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Trump bombs Bombardier.
I’ve always thought that Bombardier was such an overly aggressive name for a commercial aircraft company. Yes, I get it that it was the founder’s last name, and probably some ancestor of his in France had a gig firing cannons or something, but still...
I honestly cannot recall any products coming out of Bombardier. It leads me to suspect that it’s nothing more than a liberal slushfund.
the plane that crashed in Bangor several days ago was a bombardier
LOLOL how childish
They make jet skis.
Let’s see... They made Ski doo snowmobiles, Canadair aircraft, railcars for a sizable chunk of North America, the Disney monorails, Learjets, and a series of short and medium range airliners and business jets. The Airbus A-220 was originally a Bombardier plane until Airbus bought the assembly line and type certificate. They’ve divested of everything but their aerospace business. That said, the actions of the Canadian government are pure protectionism.

P.S.- The province of Quebec owns 25% of the A-220 factory. Follow the money.😉
CC
They made a lot of the rolling stock purchased by the foolhardy taxpayers here in Jersey.

Snowmachines (snowmobiles) since the ‘60’s. One of the pioneers in the industry.
I’m reading this differently. Canada is footdragging the Canadian certification of Gulfstream, an American company. It’s been going on for years.
Trump is saying we will tariff Canadian made airplanes at 50% until Canada certifies the American company. Carney needed a wake-up call if he thought he could go toe to toe with the US.

I agree.
I have a friend that is a manager at the local Bombardier service hangar. I guess he will have a long weekend.
So is there anything actually wrong with Gulfstream planes that would make them NOT certify them? Or is this simply stopping the competition?
Carney is in the barrel and poised to go over Niagara Falls for the nth time...
HeHe, Quebec thinks they will get a great deal after they leave Canada
Stopping the competition. Gulfstream has an impressive safety record.
