The PPH article on it buries the lede in an article: Susan Collins says ICE operations in Maine, Minnesota should be paused

I wonder if they are allowed walkers in stir?
I saw Portland and assumed Oregon. Then I realized if it was Oregon they wouldn’t have arrested the protesters.
“Groups represented at Tuesday’s event included United Church of Christ, Unitarian Universalist, Universal Life Church, American Baptist, Quaker Society of Friends, the Catholic Church, and others.”
These did not act like ‘mostly non-violent’ protestors.
So they got arrested.
Suspect Collins, the RINO, issued their arrest.

. . .Even churches without large immigrant congregations are feeling the impacts. First Parish Congregational Church of Gorham has run a transitional housing program for asylum seekers since 2023, converting second-floor space into rooms for four families.
Lead minister Christine Dyke says the program has made immigration a more personal issue for church members. “They listen to particular things in the news. They’re listening because they’re doing the same kind of thing I am,” she said. “‘Is this gonna affect our people?’ That’s what they call them — these are our people now.”
Since November 2023, the church has hosted more than 25 families, mostly from Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Initially, most people stayed for an average of three months, but as the housing market in Maine has tightened the stays have increased to six months or longer.
Dyke said she and other church leaders have created a plan in case federal immigration officers show up on church property. Congregation members know how to respond, Dyke said, and the goal is to keep residents safe while following the law.
Everyone in the transitional housing has claimed asylum and is known by ICE, but Dyke said they still fear that legal status may be ignored or revoked on short notice. The Trump administration has already stripped the legal status of more than 500,000 immigrants who were previously approved for humanitarian parole and instructed them to “self-deport,” and recently revoked more than 6,000 student visas. . .
Asked to be arrested.
Do they get paid more for that?

The Queer Spirit Podcast
Will Green
. . .
About
Will Green is pastor of Brackett Memorial Church on Peaks Island. (For those who may not be familiar with Maine geography, Peaks Island is located in Casco Bay off Portland.)
A native of Worcester, MA, Will served United Methodist congregations in eastern Massachusetts before moving to Maine in 2019. He describes himself as “a gay man who has been far too active in denominational politics,” no doubt because Will and his congregation on Peaks are finalizing their dis-affiliation from the United Methodist Church, a process that will be completed at the end of 2020.
Will contributes frequently to “The Word Is Resistance,” a lectionary-based, anti-racist podcast created through SURJ-Faith, the religious organizing program of Showing Up for Racial Justice.
Regardless of pay ... in their social circle, it gives them a sort of "street cred". They get to do extra virtue signaling, on account of being arrested.
“Suspect Collins, the RINO, issued their arrest.”
More likely she set up the ‘protest’, in order to get some credibility with MAGA.
Nine remained and asked to be arrested.
Bucking to get on the democrats paid to protes crews list?.
AWFUL
