It’s last call for San Francisco’s government hooch.
A COVID-era program that guzzled $5 million of taxpayer money annually to serve booze to homeless alcoholics will finally shutter this year, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie exclusively told The California Post.
“For years, San Francisco was spending $5 million a year to provide alcohol to people who were struggling with homelessness and addiction — it doesn’t make sense, and we’re ending it,” Lurie said.
The taxpayer tipple, called the Managed Alcohol Program (MAP), was created by the San Francisco Department of Public Health in April 2020, when the city began housing homeless people in hotels during lockdown.
The program served just 55 clients during its run — amounting to a $454,000 bar tab each.
To prevent chronic alcoholics from dangerous withdrawal while stores and bars were closed, clinicians brought metered doses of beer and liquor to clients.
But the scheme went on for six years, well after the pandemic ended.

SF's version of Somali graft.
Yep. Somebody got rich off the taxpayers again.
The San Francisco Female Politician Act. Stay drunk and win!
How much did they spend to procure little boys for Big Donors?
So, to get a free drink, all I had to do was pretend to be homeless and alcoholic?
Yet another waste of taxpayer money!
In my town people just need to sit outside a liquor store with a ‘I need a beer’ sign to get free drinks from customers. At least they are honest. :-)
America is $38 Trilllion in debt, and its growing by at least $1.5 Trillion per year.
And yet America’s neo-marxists and connected government/political cronies are looting the treasury as fast as we can print money and issue new debt
Perhaps its time for an end to our present fiat-money monetary system and an abbrogation of federal debt.
It will be ugly for sure, but the alternative is the death of the republic, marxism, with bankruptcy still coming in the future anyway.
Im half way there already!

Clearly we are living in the wrong place.
This is a liberal harm prevention program gone insane. They identify a real issue - that alcoholics go through dangerous withdrawal if they don't have booze in their system - and solve it in the worst possible way. They enable the alcoholism. There are other ways to address the withdrawal that don't involve giving alcoholic homeless people booze. But those methods impinge on an insanely broad definition of the homeless peoples' civil rights. So, like the Narcan distribution centers, the answer is to enable.

It’s called ‘Safe Supply’ spoonfed daily & inherent sickness
This is the same mentality that says it is a good idea to provide birth control to teenagers in the form of condoms and secret abortions. It’s also the same as giving opposite sex hormones to children. “Mom why can’t I have hormones? Joey’s parents let him have hormones.”
Yeah now that’s a scam that can’t be bled dry... are the Somalis running the operation?
The opportunity is lost, but if you’re gonna feed them the tools to take their drugs and drink their alcohol, including the substance, you get the really good stuff, I mean the really, really good stuff. Grain alcohol UNcut pure drugs. Define needles, everything... give it about 3 months and see how many left...
No different than handing out reparations
Crazier than their doing the same with drugs?
the pandemic ended?
