President Donald Trump said Wednesday he would not use force to acquire Greenland, the first time he has ruled out using military action to acquire the territory.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump lamented that the United States “probably won't get anything unless I decide to use excessive strength and force, where we would be, frankly, unstoppable.”
“But I won't do that,” he added. “That's probably the biggest statement I made, because people thought I would use force. I don't have to use force. I don't want to use force. I won't use force.”

The purchase of Greenland. The Danes have already come to the table to negotiate. Trump broke them. For all intents and purposes this is a done deal. All that remains is to work out the fine details.
Excellent question.
Who knew you were a human fly on the wall privy to all this super secret stuff no one else knows about? They should make a movie about you!

I don't actually think a physical invasion was ever really in the cards - Trump would likely have been impeached in 24 hours by "Republicans" who would gladly have crossed the aisle. I can name at least a dozen. I will say, though, that it is vastly amusing to see the TDSers doing a little victory dance at the moment.
No movie necessary. Just remember me when the deal is signed.
No, they haven’t. And I hope you never have to buy or sell a house, since there is a vast difference between negotiating and closing a sale.
👊👊👊
>>”No, they haven’t.”
Oh, but they have (started negotiations).
>>”And I hope you never have to buy or sell a house, since there is a vast difference between negotiating and closing a sale.”
The closing of a deal is inevitable. The details of the deal need to be and will be worked out.
That being said, now that he's backed off, it's probably better to focus on what comes next rather than continuing to debate on what he should or should 't have done.
Trump has eliminated use of military force. He has not eliminated threat of economic force.
A reasonable argument for his wanting possession is that he wants to put in multi $billion installations for military protection. That could be accomplished by 99 year leases on areas of land, with steps to renew after 70 years. Thus nothing would be built without secure land leases. Most commercial property needs major rebuilds and renovation every 30 years. So we would not be stuck with expensive facilities but no legal land claim and timeframe.

Something similar could also be arranged for exploiting mineral wealth.

Maybe we can relocate some of those illegals crossing the
Rio Grande and let them start establing a nation for the USA.
It’s retarded when the entire cost of running ops even when America had 20 bases there didn’t top $700m a year.
You can keep the existing deal for a millennium for the same price as the $700bn one-off spend.

Later in the year you will see minus 60 temps and hurricane force winds.
Posted so everyone will know what the US is getting:
How about everyone learning something about Greenland itself, its history, its people before posting comments that are silly or just not germane to any deeper US involvement in the island?
But what is Greenland really like? How do people manage? Who lives there exactly? Where does the food come from? How cold is it? What is its history? Learn all of that and much more from the very informative video below:

Silly wizard, you jumped the gun. Whether the deal goes through or not, Trump wins again with a resounding bitch slap to Europe. Enjoy your crow.
Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region.
LOL! He never was going to invade.
It’s all schtick.
