The death of Davos: Trump prepares to 'punch allies in the head' as Greenland threat hangs over gathering of global elite

Donald Trump will address the global elite at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday as a diplomatic crisis over Greenland spirals.

Denmark has boycotted the conference after the president threatened 25 percent tariffs on eight European allies unless they agree to sell him the mineral-rich Arctic territory.

'This is the death of Davos,' Mark Blyth, a political economist at Brown University, told the New York Times. 'It has no relevance, none whatsoever. And the bigger question is, did it ever have relevance outside the chattering classes that were embedded in the status quo to start with?'

Blyth added: '[Trump] is punching them in the head and telling them who's in charge. He's informing them that, basically, unless they align with him, they no longer matter.'

Trump arrives at the Swiss resort on Wednesday where he will deliver a keynote address 'emphasizing that the US and Europe must leave behind economic stagnation and the policies that caused it,' according to the White House.

The president will be joined by the largest delegation ever sent by Washington, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The EU is now preparing retaliatory tariffs on $107.7 billion in US goods, or potentially denying America access to the EU market, the Financial Times reported.

European shares fell sharply on Monday. US stock markets were closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

More than 3,000 delegates from over 130 countries will attend this year, including 64 heads of state and government. The list also includes several heads of G7 nations, with changes in American foreign policy under Trump in sharp focus.

Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy will appear at the conference in person, hoping to meet Trump and sign new security guarantees for a potential ceasefire deal with Russia.

There’s a war in Gaza to resume in March and Europe needs to be intimidated to keep them from opposing Mr. Netanyahu’s plans IMHO.

POTUS, Bibi set March deadline for Hamas to ‘disarm’.

Trump could leverage a deal on Ukraine through intimidation of Europe we shall see.

From the Conservative Treehouse:

“Denmark spends $3.2 billion a year on Greenland’s 53,000...[mainly] Inuit Eskimo population for food, shelter and medical services.”

That’s $32 billion over a decade for about half the number of people in Somalistan West.

Donald J. Trump is not known for patience with whom he considers to be fools and charlatans. And he does not hold back on calling them out for their timidity and reticence. Remember, this man sharpened his negotiation skills against the best corporate lawyers the New York municipal real estate could muster up, and while there were occasional reverses, he almost always persevered and got what he came for.

Over, under, around, or just right straight through, with an eye on the ball all the time. Line drive for the left field fences sending in a grand slam bottom of the ninth with two outs, a Hail Mary pass to the end zone, a basket with nothing but net from beneath the home team’s own basket full length of the court, or leading the field in golf, with a full five-stroke lead over second place.

Being President has been the best damn job Donald Trump has ever had in his whole life.

What “diplomatic crises”? All President Trump has done is stir the waters by expressing he would like to work out having the territory of Greenland. The Danes have apparently abused the indigenous residents of Greenland...including mass covert sterilization. Somehow the arrogant, fascist-behaving Danes are “good shepherds” of the Greenland people??? Give me a break. The Danes act more like arrogant, self-serving, fascist losers.

I think this is a well-designed Tempest-in-a-Teapot on Trump’s behalf. He pokes the hornets nest with a big stick, tells them he can take Greenland if he wants—and Denmark knows this to be true. However, he says: “Tell you what: I’ll back off taking Greenland from you if you let the US expand its bases in Greenland, deploy the Dome Defense System, and allow US companies to invest in Greenland.”

Think about it...

Just wanted to read that again.

Please God make it so!
