US Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) refuted reports on Thursday that President Donald Trump was backing down from US action in Iran.
"All the headlines like these are examples of reporting that are beyond inaccurate," Graham wrote on X.
"The circumstances around the necessary, decisive action to be taken against the evil Iranian regime have nothing to do with President Trump’s will or determination. Nothing could be further from the truth. Quite the opposite. Stay tuned," he added.
While at one point on Wednesday, tensions seemed to be at their highest and US action in Iran seemed imminent, as night fell in Tehran, matters calmed as President Trump claimed that the killing of protesters had ceased.
"We have been notified pretty strongly that the killing in Iran is stopping, and there's no plan for executions or an execution," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
He noted that "I've been told that in good authority. We'll find out about it, I'm sure. If it happens, we'll be very upset."
On Thursday morning, the Iranian regime reopened its airspace, which it had closed several hours prior. The regime also announced that it would not execute Erfan Soltani, a 26-year-old man who was arrested during the recent protests in the country and became a symbol for the demonstrators.
President Donald Trump wrote that, "According to Fox News, 'An Iranian protester will no longer be sentenced to death after President Trump’s warnings. Likewise, others.' This is good news. Hopefully, it will continue!"

Trump will act when the other countries in the region are on board. They are still saying it is too early.

Perhaps you better rethink that Linda Graham is always wrong. There are times when he has the correct story, and I am not prone to stand by what Linda says. I do however, stand by what Trump says. I am not saying that Trump is a 4D chess master, but rather that he is an excellent poker player. He doesn't react. He just keeps playing the hand he has, with total confidence. That puts the heat on the opponent.
Iran saw what happened in Venezuela, they have also heard what Maduro's security detail has been saying about fighting the Americans, and how 20 of our military killed hundreds of their security detail, while no American was even wounded.
So, do you not think that it is Iran that is backing down, and still wonder if Trump is the opne backing down? What Linda says is irrelevant, when you think for yourself, and ignre the noise that is trying to sawy you to think in one way or another.
In other wrds, Iran has no clue what Trump will do and that scares them immensely, but they aslo know what capabilities Trump has at his disposal.
Iran is in dire financial straits, and that is confirmable by what we see happening over there. In additiona; lack of confidence ois driving monney to flee compunding the financial problems.
Stop acting as if your hair is on fire, watch & see. Trump is not about to have them push him around. Trump is still doing the pushing, and they are the ones who are having to react.
Their stern threat of executing these people, was met wit a stern promise that isf they followed through with their threat, a threat of his own.
You need to ask yourself, who is it that really blinked. Trump only hit the pause button to see if they lived up to their later tstatement of backing down from their threat of executing people, and Trump added that we will be watching.
Trump being buddy-buddy with Graham is not what I voted for.
Shouldn’t he be concentrating on passing spending bills? January 31st is coming soon.
We hear about these competing lines of thoughts inside the cabinet, and that’s a good thing. But you think there would be consensus in telling Graham to shut up. He doesn’t help

This is Sina Ashkavousi, 17 years old. He was killed on Thursday, January 9, by gunfire from repression forces during protests in the Tehran-Pars neighborhood.
His body was buried on Monday, January 13, after regime forces compelled his family to hold the funeral quietly and without a public ceremony.
According to testimonies circulating online, Sina was not alone - he was part of a group of approximately 25 boys his age who were killed together in the same incident.

Hey, I agree with you avout the mullahs and all. I’m just kinda nervous about what Count Vlad said recently.
He warned that there would be ‘serious consequences’ from Russia if the US attacked Iran. ‘War with Russia’ is NOT on my bingo card for 2026, and I don’t want it to be.
The Iranian governing elite is moving their funds out of Iran. My guess is that the regime’s leaders accept that their time is running out and will soon make their exit. A negotiated and peaceful transition to a post-mullah government is possible and desirable if it can be contrived. It would be better if, as with the fall of the USSR, the end of a bad regime can be had without a hot war.
