The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) has been forced to delete a post urging the 'ultra-wealthy' to fully fund city schools after it was mocked online for misspelling 'governor.'
On Tuesday, the CTU posted a flyer across X, Facebook and TikTok calling on the public to push state leaders to tax billionaires, months after a report found the district is $1.6 billion short of necessary funding, according to Chicago Public Media.
A damning report revealed that last year, over half of Chicago students couldn't read at grade level, and nearly three-quarters failed to reach math proficiency on state tests, according to the 2025 Illinois Report Card.
The flyer went after Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker - a multibillionaire heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune - demanding that the 'ultra-wealthy pay their fair share & fully fund our schools.'
But the irony that a spelling mistake appeared in a post shared by the state's own educators didn't go unnoticed online.
At the very top, the post declared, 'TELL GOVERNER PRITZKER' - a glaring typo that quickly became the subject of ridicule.
It also included a barcode linking to a May Day Coalition petition, complete with the hashtags #NoKings and #NoBillionaires.
The petition, by contrast, spelled 'governor' correctly and read: 'Help our Governors to stand up against the Trump occupations of our cities... while taking on the billionaires who are bleeding us dry.'
Corey DeAngelis, a conservative education reform advocate, called out the union's error on X, leading to the post being quickly removed from all three official platforms.
'If the union can't handle simple spelling on a flyer, imagine the oversight in their classrooms. Beyond parody. No wonder so many kids in Chicago can't read,' DeAngelis said in a separate statement on X.

Or maybe even the house of representin’
LOL! these are your teachers Chicago! And they want... more funding! And of course the flyer depicts a typical ghettopotamus.
Of course! And they managed to get one of their own, one of their looniest, elected mayor.
They just need to mug their billionaire governor—and take what they want.
Lol.
Expecting correct spelling from teachers is a form of WHITE SUPREMACY!!
Ultra-wealthy = anyone in or above the middle class.
Fair share = more, more, more with no limit.
Fully fund our schools = pay teachers a salary that puts them in the top 5% of income earners in the country.
I am pretty sure when they say fund their schools they mean fund our already bloated salaries
“Pay their fair share ...”
See my profile page for a graph showing who pays taxes.
“one”
They have gotten more than one looney elected.
Government jobs are also a big form of welfare.
CTU making every school a quality learing center.
I wonder how many employees the CTU has and what their salaries are.
Chicago spends 10.5 billion a year on it’s school system to turn out “graduates” who cannot read, write or do basic math
A teachers group making glaring spelling mistakes?
C’mon, man, they’re just showing their street cred, that they’re truly DEI!
Such “mistakes” have been assuring them a well-paying job just like a cigarette behind the ear did in the 30s.
They lerned to spel at a quality Somalian learing sentor.
I LOVE it!
It’s too bad that the R and the T are so close together on the keyboard. Same about U and I and O. They did it to slow down typing in the original mechanical typewriters and they are laughing from their graves at the typographical errors we make multiple times each day.

Maybe the kids would get a better education if Chicago bused them up to the Quality Learing Center in Minnesota.
