Sen. Rand Paul ripped into his fellow Republicans Tuesday over their tepid response to the Trump administration’s series of strikes against suspected drug-running vessels, saying his colleagues on Capitol Hill “don’t give a s— about these people in the boats.”
“We’ve been blowing up these people in boats off the coast of Venezuela. They’re accused of running drugs, but nobody knows their names and nobody’s put up any evidence,” Paul (R-Ky.) said during an apperance on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.
“And so what I think is bizarre is I hear mostly my Republican colleagues say, ‘Well, we shouldn’t have to—how do we know they’re not armed?’ And it’s like, but there’s this thing called presumption of innocence,” the former opthamologist added. “They say it doesn’t apply. Well, it actually always has applied on the oceans. We have always had drug interdictions, but we have always stopped boats and asked to search them. If they flee or shoot at the Coast Guard, they will get shot and blown up. But it’s usually an escalatory sort of steps.”
“So I look at my colleagues who say they’re pro-life and they value God’s inspiration in life, but they don’t give a s— about these people in the boats,” Paul went on. “And are they terrible people in the boats? I don’t know. They’re probably poor people in Venezuela and Colombia.”
Since Sept. 2, the US military has carried out at least 35 strikes targeting boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean, killing at least 115 people, according to announcements by the Pentagon. Critics, mainly Democrats, have argued that the strikes violate the laws of war and have been carried out without proper congressional approval.

I mostly like Rand Paul, but like his father, he goes off the rails sometimes.

I would say that the indirect evidence is pretty strong. And I’d bet that most Americans would agree with me.
But that doesn’t have to be the end of it. The ball is now in Rand Paul’s court. Let him offer proof that these boats are not running drugs, but are instead fishing boats or whatever.
National Emergencies, closed borders and declared invasions have consequences.
And Rand doesn’t care about the lives destroyed by his open border illicit drug use position.
I used to really like that guy. But my patience for him is wearing mighty thin.

Rand Paul being a democrap again, total false equivalency, murdering innocent children via abortion is not the same thing as killing criminal terrorists caught in illegal acts that lead to the death of Americans.
Killing terrosits is NOT equal to abortion, all his comments do is show us how perverted his morality is.

The proper response is, “Why do you, Rand?”
So for, the ONLY part of the Government that “gives a sh*t” about US citizens is the Executive Branch (currently Trump).
I get where Rand is coming from at one level. And I’d usually sympathize with the idea that the government needs to be reined in on use of force after the abuses of the Biden Administration. But this is diplomacy on the world stage. We blew up the boats to pressure our enemy in Venezuela. Did we make a mistake? Maybe but so what? Sometimes mistakes happen when you use military force to pressure your enemy and that should not stop you. Obama blew up a wedding. It was regrettable but the only consideration should be did pursuing that course of action hurt US interests more than it helped? The end result of Trump’s military actions is that the US is in a much stronger position not only in relation to Venezuela but also China, Russia, Cuba and Columbia. And probably Mexico and Brazil too.
