~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head, Maryland
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, also known as Naval Support Facility Indian Head, is a United States naval military installation in Charles County, Maryland, that is a NAVSEA Warfare Center enterprise dedicated to energetics (explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, reactive materials, and their application in propulsion systems and ordnance). NSWC IHD began as the Naval Proving Ground, Indian Head during World War I.

Surrounded by the Potomac River and Mattawoman Creek, Naval Support Facility Indian Head is strategically situated less than 30 miles south of the nation’s capital. In addition to its military value, the Indian Head Navy installation makes a significant economic contribution to the local community by serving as one of Charles County, Maryland’s largest employers.
Today’s military community on board Naval Support Facility Indian Head represents a diverse and strategically important mix of research and development activities, alongside operational support programs that are protecting the U.S. homeland from terrorist threats, as well as serving U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Army forces deployed worldwide on a daily basis.
Current supported commands on board NSF Indian Head include the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity, Naval Sea Logistics Center Indian Head, Joint Interoperability Test Command, and Marine Corps Chemical Biological Incident Response Force.

Howdy, lauren! Hope you’re doing well.
Have I told you that Piper is getting married this coming July? 😱
Color me shocked. But she’s very mature for her age just as is your eldest. ❤️
Hope you’re not having to work too hard this week! (((hugs)))

I highly recommend watching this video with interviews with Eugene Sledge & his family.
The Pacific: Marines of the Pacific - Eugene Sledge (HBO)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GHjgKvl25s
A look at the life of WWII veteran Eugene Sledge featuring interviews with Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, actor Joe Mazzello and the team behind the HBO miniseries “The Pacific.”
Interesting fact:
Eugene Sledge’s brother Edward was awarded the silver star for his actions in Europe.
He was on Omaha beach, the Hurtgen forest and the battle of the bulge.
“Lady, there was a killing war going on” - Eugene Sledge recalls applying for college.

Thanks, lauren. It wasn’t on my bingo card either, but they seem so happy. I just know that they will have a good marriage. She has her life all planned out...but don’t all young people? LOL!
Ruh-Roh. Boss back....chilling words. :D I am quite sure that y’all got everything done just as it should have been. But all those meetings. Ugh. Nothing more boring.

You betcha, I feel better. And I had just waked up for a nice nap when I posted the ping-post. LOL! I’m already looking forward to more sleep later tonight. MUCH later. 😬
Sure looks like it was much cooler there today. Hope you got to stay in. Isn’t it nice that the draft is gone?

It was warmer here today than yesterday but not by all that much. It made it up to 48 but was supposed to be in the mid 50s. At least it was sunny and there was no wind so it wasn’t all that unpleasant when I went out for groceries.
Already down to 29 tonight. brrrrrrrrr

Glad it was warm enough to go get your groceries. You must have enjoyed the sunshine.
We had sunshine, too, of course. The kitties enjoyed that!
