A $20B data center will employ about 10 people. If someone thinks this could employ 10s of thousands.

Mississippi years ago changed their education system to diss NO Child Left Behind and also bring back using phonics to teach reading (instead of the "enlightened" ways of teaching reading).

Mississippi's schools have improved greatly.

Elon is investing $20 billion in Mississippi. Now try to find an investor or a group of investors who are willing to commit even $1 billion of private capital into New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, LA or Philadelphia. Doubt you can find anyone. You would have to be a fool to invest in these socialist locales.

You do know that no one believes anything you say.

If the data center comes with a SMR excess power can be sold to the surrounding community.

Elon will get to go to Doe’s Eat Place. And will probably go over to Belzoni for some catfish.

Nope.

Grok:

The new xAI data center in Mississippi, known as MACROHARDRR and located in Southaven (DeSoto County), was announced on January 8, 2026, as a $20 billion+ investment—the largest private investment in the state's history. This facility expands xAI’s Colossus supercomputer cluster in the greater Memphis area to around 2 gigawatts of compute power.
Official announcements from Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, the Mississippi Development Authority, and related reports consistently state that the project will create hundreds of permanent jobs in DeSoto County and throughout the state. These are described as high-quality, high-tech positions.

Thousands. I see alot of lefty AI reports about how little jobs they are creating, usually with some anti Elon jabs thrown in. They usaully are just counting direct engineers and not counting other support jobs that keep the place running.

A valid and substantive point. Any outfit operating in United States employs support staff or contractor services, pays huge property tax, supports local utilities, and helps restaurants stay in business.

A huge data center has all those indirect benefits to the community.

Greenland would be perfect for data centers. Cold, endless ice/water for cooling, and only 16 miles from Canada at its closest point.
