Then-Special Counsel Jack Smith's office approved paying $20,000 in 2023 to a confidential human source for information in the controversial FBI investigation code-named Arctic Frost that probed efforts by President Donald Trump and his followers to contest the 2020 election results, according to documents obtained by Just the News.
The revelation is included in a tranche of new memos that FBI Director Kash Patel turned over to Congress this week that provide more clarity on the tactics and scope of the inquiry that agents and prosecutors used to try to build a case that Trump, his lawyers and allies had violated the law by attempting to offer the Senate alternate electors ahead of the certification of the 2020 election results that put Joe Biden into office.
Patel told Just the News that the bombshell revelation of a paid snitch was the latest evidence that the Arctic Frost probe was an “egregious abuse of power and violation of the law.”
The records reveal multiple efforts by FBI supervisors to make Trump himself a "subject" of the probe, an idea that was ultimately rejected, their reliance on information in liberal media outlets to build the case as well as the sheer magnitude of major Trump figures whose phone or email records were exploited by the FBI for possible evidence of wrongdoing.

“offices” do NOT approve anything.
Those who did this deserve Trial, jail, and more.
I sense a strongly worded letter coming from DOJ.
Isakov never retracted or apologized for his role.
So it only gets worse from there. That was 2016.
Pelosi’s wrap-up smear.
Boy, redacted is in for it now !
Why is it redacted ? Why isn’t redacted arrested charged and jailed ?
“Bannon’s name was included in a list of at least 16 Trump associates whose long-distance phone call records were analyzed by the FBI for evidence that also included Trump’s former campaign manager Bill Stepien, personal lawyers Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis and Cleta Mitchell and the late former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik, who led a team of investigators probing irregularities in the 2020 election.”
Powell, Ellis? Smith spied on communications between DJT and his lawyers???
I thought attorney-client communications were sacrosanct. HTF do they get away with egregious act?
I’m thinking Powell and Ellis may have grounds to have their plea deals/convictions invalidated and probable cause for multimillion dollar suits against Smith personally and the Biden Department of Justice as a whole.
Well, the FBI does have a long history of paying mob informants but it’s almost always if they get wired or assist in obtaining wiretap evidence. Also they inform on ongoing crime like plans for future heists or inside info that can be easily corroborated by multiple independent sources. An inside mob informant named Ron Previte was paid over 1 million for doing all these things for two years to the Philly mob. The recordings put away boss John Stanfa. But I’ve never heard of the FBI paying bucks like this for uncorroborated testimony.
WHAT’S THE SNITCHES NAME???????
This is classic FBI, plant a story they manufactured in a friendly media outlet, then cite that story to obtain warrants. They are fundamentally corrupt.
“This is classic FBI. . .”
They sometimes also use a John McCain type to shop it around to create maximum added faux ‘bipartisan credibility’ to their story.
Pure Obama level evil.
“paging Mitt Romney, please pick up the white courtesy phone!”
It’s always good to get the bribe loot up front.
He’ll need the 20k for a lawyer
Here is a clue, Patel. Don’t disclose a “thing” announce facts backed up by an indictment if it was illegal. Facts include who, what, where, when and how. Did the snitch provide any information? What is that information? These grand announcements mean nothing.
Indeed.
