Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok restricted access to a much-criticized deepfake generator on social media platform X following a surge of users creating nonconsensual nude images.
Grok now says that "image generation is currently limited to paying subscribers" as "this helps ensure responsible use while we continue refining things," citing "recent issues and improvements to safeguards."
The chatbot has drawn scrutiny from regulators and politicians across Europe after it enabled users to manipulate pictures posted online into a series of deepfakes, including depictions of undressed minors and public figures.
Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch was one of the latest high-profile victims. That post is no longer visible. “This post from grok has been withheld in [the] European Union based on local law(s),” it is now labeled.
The European Commission ordered X on Thursday to retain "all internal documents and data relating to Grok" — an escalation of the ongoing investigation into X's content moderation policies — after calling the nonconsensual, sexually explicit deepfakes “illegal,” “appalling” and “disgusting.”

Sounds like Politico is upset.
For quite a while now, Grok has blocked you from generating recognizable images of politicians or celebrities in satirical settings or situations.
I find grok useless. I picked three Bible verses for it to draw out, and it refused. The one that it did do was messed up. It’s not what I asked.
What about BURKHinis?!
Where were the Politico articles about the fake pictures of Sarah Palin in a bikini or dressed as a stripper? I guess those were OK.
People doing this is very distasteful. I can understand a company wanting to prevent people from doing it on their platform. I definitely don’t think it rises to the level of illegality.
One the flip side of this is a poster on X called “dignifAI”. He finds pictures that other people post online of themselves in a undignified manner (scantily clad, face tattoos, ear gauges, overweight, green hair, etc...) and uses AI to make the weirdo/whore/misfits/etc... look like sensible, rational, normal wholesome people who you would want to live next to.
It flips the whole AI exploitation thing on its head. People WANT to look like anti-social rejects and the dignifAI guy uses AI to show them (against their wishes) what they COULD look like if they had pride in themselves.
The VAST majority of the Interent is porn. AI will be no different.
Technically this is very difficult and expensive to do.
In a sad way, I find this amusing. Mankind develops these brilliant, technological marvels and what do we do with them? Create porn. Its never going to change. When we develop an artificial person that looks and acts like a real person, the first use will be for sex and porn. When we develop immersive AI that puts people in a simulator that looks real, the first use will be for sex and porn.
That’s the sad truth.
Porn has always been the biggest driver of IT technology.

AI will end most current porn production. No models to pay and much reduced production cost.
It’s censoring images of all famous people not only sexualized images.

Well, 500 years of Western Civilization’s and the Enlightenment’s blood drenched struggle to get out from under our “Betters” boot-heels.
I DO NOT trust anyone with deciding what I should or should not see, hear or think.
First, politicians and public figures HAVE TO BE fair game as MUST religious figures.
Don’t like it?
If it’s a lie, you have recourse already.
If it’s an opinion.....deal with it.
NO ONE has the right to be liked or respected or have their god liked or respected.
Second, nudes for underage are already illegal....again, prosecute those who abuse free expression for sexual perversion if society decides so.....but even there you see them weaseling in on porn in general and not just kids.
Otherwise, the herd cliche of you “can’t yell FIRE in a crowded theater” to justify severing vocal chords to stop all yelling unless state actors do it.
YOU CANNOT TRUST THE STATE.

They screw it up or turn to tyranny any authority they usurp.

I have a friend in the biz. He is excited because he can produce porn without much overhead at all, and it is higher quality than live action.
Such a shame. Oh well.
Is it illegal to generate child porn in the US?
AI Generation has made that, and all other forms of Porn, significantly easier to create and distribute then ever before. There are AI models trained specifically for this. Children are getting ruined in middle school because of this shit being created with just a picture of a face.
AI Generation as it has been must be banned. At the minimum it needs to be regulated and the people using it need to be tied to every picture they generate. Which will be impossible because you can utilize this software locally if you had the time and desire to do so. Next step up is Fabricated evidence for court.
Local generation makes all this Grok outrage meaningless. It’s like trying to ban books that you write using a word processor on a computer that isn’t connected to the internet.
