Zohran Mamdani repeatedly told people who he was during both the NYC mayoral primary race and the general election campaign season, whether it was on the subject of the Israel-Hamas war, 9/11, his soft-on-crime stances, his desire for "free" stuff for New Yorkers - which of course would be paid for by the "rich," or his race-based approach to "solving" the city's housing crisis.
And on other issues, past tweets and videos dug up by internet sleuths gave us an even more complete picture of the man who eventually was elected mayor of the Big Apple, with perhaps the most revealing one being remarks he made during a 2021 DSA convention, where he referenced "the end goal of seizing the means of production" and how he and his fellow Democrat Socialists should not give up on it, even though the idea was not currently popular.

While it's no surprise to anyone that the people Mamdani lined up to serve in his administration have radical anti-capitalist, antisemitic, anti-American, and racist anti-white views that fall squarely in line with his, it was nevertheless eye-opening to read deleted social media posts from his "Office to Protect Tenants" director Cea Weaver, which, as we reported Monday, had her characterizing home ownership as a "weapon of white supremacy."
In another resurfaced video, she suggested that "transitioning to treating [property] as a collective good [instead of an "individualized good"] towards a model of shared equity, will require that we think about it differently."
And in December 2017, she called to "elect more communists," which happened in NYC eight years later with the election of Mamdani.
News of the clips and tweets prompted Harmeet Dhillon, the DOJ's Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, to respond accordingly:
Dhillon, in an interview with One America News, added that city government “should be on notice, they’re on high scrutiny.”
“We have several federal statutes that explicitly protect people of all colors and all different kinds of backgrounds and military status and so forth from the exact kind of land grabs and reallocation and redistribution that is being promised in New York,” she told the outlet.

The possibility of the Mamdani administration backing down on this policy is slim, considering that not only has Mamdani himself openly talked about seizing property in the name of "warm collectivism" (and believes NYC voters gave him a mandate to do so), but he and his transition team were aware of Weaver's history prior to the appointment - and they went with her anyway:
So when right-wing activists circulated those since-deleted posts from Ms. Weaver this week, Mr. Mamdani was not caught off-guard.
“She was vetted,” a spokeswoman for Mr. Mamdani, Dora Pekec, said on Tuesday. “We were aware of all of these tweets.”

IOW, that's his goal and that's why he picked her/him/it/whatever.
Mamdani promised free bus/subway fare. The MTA promptly announced the fare increase to $3.00. Mamdani hasn’t the power to control a few of his campaign promises. The NYers are probably beginning to suspect that he lies.

Harmeet seems to be the most functional official in the DoJ. I’d trust that she has solid underlings in her division and wouldn’t mind seeing her put in Bondi’s spot.
It’s the cycle of NYC idiocy. Their horrible politics will bring the city to its knees again, and eventually they’ll have to bring in a Giuliani type again.
It’s time for a competence based test for both candidates and the voters. And I can only imagine the congressional battle involved...
