White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller doubled down on President Trump’s renewed threats to make Greenland a U.S. territory, but he dismissed the prospect that a military confrontation would be necessary to achieve that goal.
In an interview on CNN’s “The Lead,” the top White House adviser reaffirmed the “formal position of the U.S. government” that “Greenland should be part of the United States” and brushed off questions about the potential for military actions against the semiautonomous Danish territory.
“The United States should have Greenland as part of the United States. There’s no need to even think or talk about this in the context that you’re asking, of a military operation,” Miller told CNN’s Jake Tapper, who asked repeatedly if Miller would rule out military action against Greenland.
“Nobody’s going to fight the United States militarily over the future of Greenland,” Miller added.
Trump has frequently toyed with the possibility of taking over Greenland, noting its potential usefulness for U.S. security interests. But those threats took on greater weight this weekend, after the Trump administration send worldwide shock waves with a military operation arresting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and bringing them to New York to face charges.
Amid questions about which country could face a similar fate, Trump told reporters Sunday about Greenland: “It’s so strategic right now. Greenland is covered with Russian and Chinese ships all over the place.”
“We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security, and Denmark is not going to be able to do it,” the president said.

Greenland is a colony of Denmark.
I thought colonization was bad?
Let’s deem it to be ours.
They sold the Danish West Indies (St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix) to us.
Trump WILL have Greenland for the USA
It’s effectively empty territory. He will not allow China or Russia to have any influence there. He has zero respect for the EU, and its military capabilities (which also creates fear that they will leave Greenland undefended). He has said it publicly and so have those around him.
Personally, its my opinion Trump would like to contribute to the overthrow of the Davos neo-marxists running Brussels and London, who are destroying Europe with the same ridiculous woke ideology they help promote in the USA. People around him like Musk, Vance and Don Jr have spoken more harshly about the present EU ideological regime.
Trump also “owes” the EU (and particularly the British) some payback for their roll in Crossfire Hurricane, the global NGO color-revolution against him, and their close contact with people like Obama, Brennan and Comey
So YEAH - Trump has put the EU on notice they should prepare to hand over Greenland to the USA.
Not if we do it. 😂😂😂👍
The Green Advocates should be elated.
>> Let’s deem it to be ours.
And why not? Denmark is preoccupied with Being So Gay, they’re not paying attention! 😂
I notice that when the English colonize, the locals pick up English. The French had no problem bringing French to her colonies, and having it stick. Same with the Spanish and Portuueguese. Those Germanic languages (Dutch, German, Danish) . . . no one really wants to pick those up. At most you get new dialects (Afrikaans, Yiddish).
Miller needs to focus on getting actual mass deportations. (And no asylum for 600K Venezuelans!)
Hmmm, what does that mean? That we will go take it and nobody will stop us? That's a strange statement for the always-precise Miller.
Deport Somalians to northern Greenland. When the left says it’s too cold, remind them that the north pole is supposed to be ice free by now (according to their global warming cult).
The Greenlanders hate the Danish [I say that as someone of Danish extraction myself].
They are Inuit [formerly “Eskimos”] and the Danes sterilized many of them for decades.
Denmark isn’t doing anything with Greenland.
Encourage independence.
For freedom loving people, don’t you know.
We will ensure their protection.
“The French had no problem bringing French to her colonies, and having it stick.”
A slight problem in IndoChina.
Maybe it has to do with the British and French being less insular than Germanics, and willing to teach.
The British and French may also be more likely to tend to accept people of color as equals than Germanics, who may be less likely to accept people that don’t look like themselves as equals worthy of teaching.
I don’t know, it is an interesting observation.
What is the problem with just leasing a small plot of crappy land for whatever Trump imagines we need?
Let’s deem it to be ours!
Your statement reminded me of this absolutely hilarious YouTube video by the Chaser Bros in Australia.

It's not as if Greenland could be used as a base of operations to attack the USA or anything.
The good old fashioned “will to power”. America used to at least have the common decency to pretend there was some lofty ideal, or someone needing liberating.
Now it’s just “we want it”. “we are stronger than you”, and “national security”.
An old familiar ring. I guess world conquest it is!
