Texas Comptroller Questions Whether Some Islamic Schools Can Be Excluded from Voucher Program

In a request for opinion filed to state Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office on Dec. 12, Hancock asked whether schools could be excluded from the program if they were linked to a “foreign terrorist organization” or a “foreign adversary.” Hancock suggested schools that had hosted events for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights group which Gov. Greg Abbott recently designated as a terrorist organization, would be affected.

Abbott’s designation of CAIR as a foreign terrorist organization is part of an uptick in Texas politicians’ criticisms of Islam and the presence of Muslim organizations in the state. The increase was in part sparked by several investigations earlier this year into the East Plano Islamic Center’s “EPIC City” development in North Texas.

All Islamic schools, not only those associated with CAIR, should be excluded from the voucher program. Islam is not only a religion but a political system that is incompatible with American culture, values and system of government. Starting next year, the new voucher program in Texas goes into effect that pays for private school tuition and expenses. A downside of the program is than Islamic schools are also eligible for funding.

Islamic schools teach islamic law and mores; kill the infidel. Sharia law is not compatible with the American Constitution nor American attitudes, ergo I don’t want my tax dollars lining islamic pockets.

While I agree with your opinion, If Christian schools or Jewish ones cannot be excluded, there should be no reason islamic ones should be. If they have tangible links to a terrorist cell, or CAIR, they should be hit with the DHS, and afterwards nothing would be left.

Exactly right. If they teach Sharia (which they do), they teach violent revolution against the US Government and should not be taxpayer funded.

Christian and Jewish theology exist wholly separate from government.

In Judaism, the theological teaching is one must follow the laws of the land in which you reside.

Christianity follows the same rule, notably reserved by Jesus when looking at a coin and telling us to “render unto Ceasar.”

To further expound, Islam is not merely a religion. It is an entire system of government, civil law and criminal law, and domestic (family) law.

There is no concept of separation of church in state in Islam. All is “lesser”.
