The Supreme Court could give Republicans a good shot at keeping the House in 2026 — and these Dems are in the hot seat

Republicans’ best shot at keeping the House in 2026 could rest with a crucial Voting Rights Act case before the Supreme Court — and it’s putting some senior Democratic leaders in the hot seat.

By some estimates, the GOP could pick up nine or more congressional seats if the high court strikes down race-based districts.

That looks likely — a majority of the conservative justices indicated they oppose the Civil Rights era restriction during oral arguments two months ago.

“It’s potentially really important for 2026,” Kyle Kondik, managing editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia Center for Politics, told The Post.

At issue is Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which bans any law or map that results in the denial of the right to vote on account of race or color.

In practice, the law has been used to create majority-minority congressional districts that favor Democrats — especially in Republican majority states with large black populations.

“If it comes and it completely changes our understanding of Section 2 and doesn’t protect these districts anymore, you could have a significant impact,” Kondik explained.

“You could see several states in the South potentially eliminating Democratic districts in states like Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee.”

Since 1938, the party in control of the White House has lost House seats in all but two elections. Given the GOP’s ultra-slim majority, that could mean they will lose power.

The Supreme Court’s decision could completely upend that dynamic.

One analysis by the New York Times’ Nate Cohn found that if the Supreme Court entirely eliminates the Voting Rights Act race-based districts, Republicans could cut the 24 seats that Democrats hold in the South in half.

That includes nine pickups directly tied to Section 2’s demise.

We can’t depend on the Supreme Court justices or the many federal judges who thwart Trump’s good works to turn virtuous and honest. Sorry, I’m a cynic.

The democrats chances of winning died with epstein and the minnesota fraud. Because we have just seen the opening chapters of what is going to be a year long destruction of the democrat brand with one blue state after another showing democrat fraud. and little to no fraud in red states.
epstein will just make democrats feel bad. the fraud will make independents shy away from the democrat brand.

On the repubican side the economy is going to boom next year. the only question is as to whether the boom will be enough to make up for the jobs lost to AI.

Dems are losing funding since the cartels drug smuggling has been restricted by Trump. Dem cartel cash flow is on the rocks.

Yes, they suck, but they’re still 10 times better than any of the RATS.

My theory is that independent voters have a difficult time supporting Black Conservatives. Why? I don't have all the answers.

The republicans suck, so sort of hoping this doesn’t work out.

But of course...we have the example of 2019 when things became infinitely better when Dems took over the gavels and crippled Trump's final two years of his previous term with endless investigations, impeachment, manufactured deluge of negative news stories, etc. Definitely should be something to hope for again... < / s >

Happens every damn time when dim-0s gain power while Republicans are in the WH. Look at 2007. Look at 2017. Look at 1987.

Give them sonsofbitches one house of congress and along with the 4th estate, the MSM already being a branch of the dim-0 party, things always go bad.

"By some estimates, the GOP could pick up nine or more congressional seats if the high court strikes down race-based districts."

People are starting to get more realistic, but they aren't quite there yet.

For a while, the "magic number" being thrown around by panicky racist Democrats (and overly giddy Republicans) was 19:

Republicans could draw 19 more House seats after an upcoming Supreme Court ruling (Politico)

The New York Times dropped the estimate to "around a dozen" a couple months ago:

Supreme Court Appears Poised to Weaken Voting Rights Act

Back when the fever dream was 19 seats, this was written just after the November, 2025 elections:

"Even if the Supreme Court does the right thing and allows Republicans to eliminate racist Democrat-gerrymandered districts, there has to be sufficient time to draw new maps in the affected states. And sufficient time for the immediate Democrat lawsuits to be heard. And then those suits must be rejected so the new maps can be implemented. Good luck with all that.

And then things have to work out the way panicky Democrats fear they will. Let's take a look at how the Democrat crystal ball came up with this cockamamie number of "19" seats which they claim are in jeopardy. Remember: this stuff was never about race; it was always about partisan politics. Whenever you see the word "black" or "minority" in some racist court ruling, replace that word with "Democrat" if you want to know the truth.

As best we can guess from trying to interpret the feverish nightmares of Democrats, here are the Magic 19:

So there you have it: 19 House seats which are currently held by black Democrats. If the recently created maps in MO and NC hold up in court, then the GOP will be +2. If the Supreme Court does the right thing and does it promptly, there is a good chance for Republicans to reclaim the two seats (AL-2, LA-6) which black-robed leftist dictators stole from them in 2024. There will be no further developments in Missouri or North Carolina. That leaves Florida and Georgia as the only hopes for inflicting some damage on the Rats. That's much easier said than done.

No matter what lies Democrats are telling about this upcoming court ruling, Republicans will never get anywhere near +19. Doing so would require them to eliminate most or all of the above districts and then create ones which will elect a Republican. And then have those district maps persist despite Democrat lawsuits. That's completely impossible, and Democrats know it. But they never fail to play the race card or the victim card whenever they can, the media swallows that shit up and then regurgitates it for the purpose of bamboozling low-info, low-intelligence voters into voting (D)."

Bottom line: the +2 seats Republicans are already expecting from current revisions in MO & NC, combined with the +2 they can reclaim between AL & LA means a probable total of +4 from this stuff -- and that's wonderful, but +19 as a result of the upcoming USSC decision (even assuming it's the RIGHT decision) is completely absurd and so is anything even close to that number.

Republicans only get things done when they are out of power. More got done in the Biden administration due to case law than they are doing now. ATM, these guys are just lining their pockets.
