China sanctions 20 American defence companies and 10 executives over arms sales to Taiwan

According to the Chinese foreign ministry, the sanctions entail freezing the companies’ assets in China and banning individuals and organisations from accessing them. China has imposed sanctions against 20 US defense-related companies and 10 executives, a week after Washington announced large-scale arms sales to Taiwan. According to the Chinese foreign ministry, the sanctions entail freezing the companies’ assets in China and banning individuals and organisations from dealing with them. “We stress once again that the Taiwan question is at the very core of China’s core interests and the first red line that must not be crossed in China-US relations,” the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

And lets not forget CHINA's previous total CENSORSHIP of ALL American Social Networks, while America and the West had to deep-throat their TikTok spy system for years... Yet, we stay silent on China's ban on US social networks... Have we been defeated by China on the issue of censorship against us?

Indeed: China has BANNED American FaceBook China has BANNED American WhatsApp China has BANNED American X platform China has BANNED American YouTube China has BANNED American Instagram China has BANNED American Snapchat China has BANNED American Reddit China has BANNED American Pinterest China has BANNED American Tumblr China has BANNED American Discord China has BANNED American Quora

Lets say something more about free speech... :

Contrary to China and Russia, Europe has authorized ALL AMERICAN SOCIAL NETWORKS mentioned above!

Free speech in the US vs the EU. The core difference:

America treats free speech as a near-absolute constitutional right. Europe treats free speech as a right that has to coexist with other rights.

Why the difference? Because Europe isn’t America, and America isn’t Europe. Different histories, different laws, different instincts. That’s why people should be free to live under the system they prefer.

USA: The First Amendment protects speech even when it’s offensive, hateful, false, or socially toxic. The US bets hard on liberty and accepts the collateral damage.

EU: Free speech exists, but it’s balanced against human dignity, public order, and protection from harm. Europe bets on social cohesion and accepts limits.

So who’s “right”? Depends on what scares you more:

>> The state deciding what you’re allowed to say (the American fear) >> Speech fueling historical violence and social breakdown (the European fear)

Neither system is pure. America has private censorship and brutal cultural punishment. Europe still has real debate, protest, and dissent. The difference is who gets the final word when speech turns ugly.

Both sides think the other is playing with fire.

So here’s the obvious “solution”: Europe should mind its own business. America should mind its own business. Each handles free speech the way it sees fit.

Personally, I prefer the American system. That said, I support censorship when it comes to online death threats and not letting ISIS or similar Islamic anti-Christian movements post beheadings and torture videos. Those aren’t “ideas”. They’re propaganda and recruitment tools.

Germany and England are too restrictive. France feels closer to the right balance.

In France, you can protest relentlessly in the streets, like the Yellow Vests. That wouldn’t be tolerated in America. Does that mean America actually has less free speech in practice than France? I need to think more about that.

And then there’s America’s “Summer of Love” in 2020. I won’t forget that. It was a horrible insurrection. US media didn’t censor it. They did something worse: they flooded the public with disinformation, calling it “mostly peaceful.”

It was near-revolutionary chaos. Inner cities were destroyed. People died. During that period, American free speech was completely dysfunctional.

Yes, the US Constitution allows people to do false statements. But I still expect the media to tell the truth in such important moments for the nation... But they don’t when it clashes with their narrative. That’s the real weakness of the American system. In Europe at least, the media didn't try to mislead with bad reporting about Yellow Vests' actions.

What does this have to do with Putin taking over the world, or Russia being a crappy place to live?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Topic of this thread is about China.
So why are you mentioning Putin here?

Ah, because China is Russia’s number one super-close communist ally you mean?
I agree with you. Without China’s MASSIVE subsidies to Moscow to keep Russia economically afloat, Russia would have already collapsed.
We agree.

The Chinese are actually doing us a favor. We shouldn’t be supplying them with arms to begin with that they would use against us. Problem solved.

Throughout all conflicts and clashes throughout history, some version of "sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander."

Want to sanction some other nation(s) / government(s)? Expect them to sanction you. No excuse or apologia intended herein. Merely an observation in life of the "equal and opposite reaction."

As is the reduction -- "...when one object exerts a force on another, the second object exerts a force of equal strength in the opposite direction...."

Tit for tat. Not hard to fathom. You hit me, if you are able to do so; if I am able, I'll hit back.

EU countries now, what, three years post-DemPanic?, are still ruthlessly censoring the truth, and all reasonable, human opinions based on the truth.

In the meantime, the U.S. government is currently being force-fed the truth. It may yet succeed in rejecting it. In which case, the Mother Of All Regurge is in our future.

Well that is what I said in the beginning go this thread:

Quoting myself:
“So here’s the obvious “solution”: Europe should mind its own business. America should mind its own business. Each handles free speech the way it sees fit.”

And since France is part or Europe, your comment has been clearly answered.

Where did you get the idea that protests are not allowed in the streets of America?

The companies include Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation, L3Harris Maritime Services and Boeing in St. Louis, while defence firm Anduril Industries founder Palmer Luckey is one of the executives sanctioned, who can no longer do business in China and is barred from entering the country.

Their Chinese assets have also been frozen.

Perhaps someone can splain to me just why on EARTH are these companies doing defense biz w China?

“… the sanctions entail freezing the companies’ assets in China ”

Yes. I can sort of understand Boeing, since they only got the Chicoms to buy their planes if some parts were made there, but even that’s looking bad.

There is no evidence they are doing defense related work with China. Each of there companies also make commercial products and that is where they can use Chinese made parts which generally are illegal to use in US defense products.

Almost everything is duo use!
Every commercial action with them strengthens them.

Trump needs to suspend PRC visas for at least one year!
Maybe that will get their attention.

But he won’t!
