Why Russians haven't risen up to stop the Ukraine war
The Responsible Statecraft ^ | December 25, 2025 | Anna Matveeva

After its emergence from the Soviet collapse, the new Russia grappled with the complex issue of developing a national identity that could embrace the radical contradictions of Russia’s past and foster integration with the West while maintaining Russian distinctiveness.

The Ukraine War has significantly changed public attitudes toward this question, and led to a consolidation of most of the Russian population behind a set of national ideas. This has contributed to the resilience that Russia has shown in the war, and helped to frustrate Western hopes that economic pressure and heavy casualties would undermine support for the war and for President Vladimir Putin. To judge by the evidence to date, there is very little hope of these Western goals being achieved in the future.

I will give the Russian people credit for their resilience and dogged determination. Their patriotism in the face of heavy Western condemnation and sanctions is something to behold. That the State has convinced their populace of the defensive nature of the Ukraine war is hardly a surprise when looked at objectively.

Once this war is settled I hope a condition of maybe begrudging admiration from some American quarters fosters combined ingenuity. We are going to need it to combat the zealotry of Islam.

The Russian populace longs to be a great and huge empire. Forget about the fact that they are already an enormous country with 11 time zones, I think.
Russia under Putrid supports his drive to punish foes and support allies.
Even though he has totally turned his youth into ground hamburger in the Ukraine, the people still support his goals to RECOVER what was once theirs.
Glory, heroism and sacrifice for a loaf of bread has been the base for 300 years.

After WWII the Russians kept all their machinery in place...so can produce 10 times the number of 155mm ammunition than the stupid west who scrapped all their machinery.

So now the west has to scrounge 155 ammo from S. Korea...Turkey

No problem!

It's so refreshing to receive an apology from a true "humanitarian" after making such an idiotic statement!

Where in the world do you insert Jews into this equation, especially by using derogatory terms such as “permanent grift”?

We are talking about Anti-Semitic Ukrainians killing Anti-semitic Russians...where do the Jews enter this fray?

Since the topic of jews and corruption in Ukraine has come up, anyone with questions about that could, for example, go to Israel and ask Timur Mindich why he fled to Israel, and where are the hundreds of millions he stole ?

They don’t dare protest the war. One person was just holding up a blank sign, and they hauled her into a car to be whisked away.

You're kidding, right? It's Russia that has been massively dependent upon North Korea for materiel. Here's what Microsoft Copilot has to say:

Scale of North Korean Arms Deliveries to Russia

Multiple independent analyses show that North Korea has become one of Russia’s largest external suppliers of ammunition since late 2023.

These quantities are large enough to sustain a major portion of Russia’s artillery usage in Ukraine.

What Weapons and Ammunition Has North Korea Supplied?

1. Artillery Shells (the bulk of shipments)

All are compatible with Russia’s Soviet‑standard artillery systems.

2. Short‑Range Ballistic Missiles

International sanctions monitors report that Russia has received:

Debris recovered in Ukraine matches North Korean missile designs.

3. Rocket Launchers and Anti‑Tank Weapons

4. Other Military Support

How the Shipments Move

  1. North Korea’s Rajin port
  2. Russian Far East

    Regards,

Criminals and graft exist everywhere, especially in the Ukraine and Russia. When they think they might get caught, they flee. In this case there have been mobsters who came to Israel under the Jewish right of return. This is a cynical and gross abuse and a loophole for some Jews. Again, we are talking about criminals whether they be Jewish, Christian, Muslim or Hindu. Do not single out the Jews unless you already have that built-in Slavic hatred for the “Yids”.

My friends Russia is a paranoid nation. If they’ve lost a million lives in 4 years and there are no protests it is no different than the Japanese and muslims not learning and adjusting, to put it mildly. The US turned against the Viet Nam war long before the final tally of 58k dead. People rally around their leaders to a fault. WW2 ended with Dresden and Hiroshima as an exclamation point. I can see it happening with Russia and Islam if the US ever took another 911 hit.

“sorry putin lovers”

I think most of us are putin-and-zelenskyy haters. Both are terrible.

It is the Russian way.
Russians are very militaristic and very “patriotic”.
They would suffer immensely for the Mother Russia benefit.
People there do not matter, the big, strong Russia is what matters, and what makes them proud.

I forgot who told this:

“In Russia, you can find people, who thought the Ukrainian invasion was not wise, but you cannot find people who think Russia should give up!”

Once the war started, it has to be won!
By any price!

“ I will give the Russian people credit for their resilience and dogged determination. Their patriotism in the face of heavy Western condemnation and sanctions is something to behold.”

Or they have little choice, to speak or SING against the war, military or putin lands you in jail. If you want to call that support, so be it, I call it fear and repression.

There is a reason a large portion of the Russian budget goes to “internal security”
