The Trump administration on Monday halted Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind, the largest project of its kind in the U.S., as well four other wind farms on the U.S. East Coast.

Shares of Dominion Energy, the utility developing the project, dropped more than 4% on the news.

The administration also paused leases for four other large-scale offshore wind projects. They are Vineyard Wind 1, Revolution Wind, Sunrise Wind and Empire Wind 1.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said the administration paused leases for the projects due to national security concerns identified by the Pentagon.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

Geez. I wonder it that will put an end to the 30 million acre wind farm off the LA/TX coast. Hoping so.

When I’ve looked at National Weather service forecasts, the wind off the Atlantic Coast looked to be too variable in speed and location to justify windmills.

Trump is determined to shut down the east coast power grid. They had better start building power plants toot sweet.

Not quite accurate.

BOEM used the most current scientific data to analyze 30 million acres in the Call Area to find the best spaces for wind energy development.

What might be done is to have floating anchorage points, windmill ships and hydrogen production/storage/transport ships.

The hydrogen ships could then travel to NY and supply hydrogen for electric power production.

The hydrogen would provide a buffering for the unreliability of wind.

The carbon foot print to mine the materials, manufacture the materials, to install the towers including the digging of the pit to fill with cement, the lifting of the tower and turbine by cranes, the manufacture of the cable and installing it, the oil to lubricate the turbine is huge.

Now if the wind doesn't blow or blow too hard the thing doesn't generate any electricity. The the maintenance, the labor to maintain, the oil that has to be changed regularly. Finally, when they wear out, what to do with the unrecycled blades and toxic materials.

They are so wonderful and clean producers of energy.

Trump isn’t a threat to the ‘east coast power grid’. The green energy plans, solar and wind, are the threat. Another threat is the green activist push to close power plants.

There are several wind companies that declined to start or continue working on the East Coast wind power development. One of them stated that even with the huuuuge Hussein/Biden Regime subsidies, wind power was not economically feasible.

Project ends after the first hydrogen ship eases into the dock and there is a static discharge creating an explosion killing thousands.

Quite a few years before anyone publicly knew about this project, the USCG Academy ship simulators was tasked with generating this near exact wind farm in the ocean. I was the chief engineer and an operator/trainer of the facility 1991-2024.

It took a long time and a lot of effort with the both the graphics and the physics.

The purpose was to then place disabled tankers, cruise liners, VLCCs and pleasure craft in the tower field. Actual best of the best coxswains and ship drivers in the 1st and 3rd CG districts for various USCG cutters and patrol boats used the simulators to simulate and evaluate rescue operations.

Regardless what process was tried, everyone ended up in the water, vessels slammed into the towers, sank, major oil spills... every time... various WX conditions. Lost cutters as the prize crews tried their best.

We surmised the wind farm project was not going to advance with these results being fed back to DC up the chain.

We all wanted to throw up when we much later read the project was approved and construction was to start.

Wind turbines KILL thousands of birds and millions
of insects every year, when decommissioned the
blades and some other parts will sit and never rot in
land fills or dumps for thousands of years because
there is no way to recycle the material they are made of.

The turbine fields them selves disrupt micro-climates
and can obstruct the flow of pollen adversely affecting
plant growth, farming and normal ecological activity.
