Biden megadonor Sam Bankman-Fried bends the knee to Trump in desperate bid to escape 25-year prison term
The Daily Mail ^ | 21 December 2025 | Greg Woodfield

For a man who handed Joe Biden $5million for his 2020 election run, it might seem an impossible ask.

But with an appeal against his 25-year prison term off to a shaky start, Sam Bankman-Fried's current language is a message he's ready to bend the knee to Biden's successor for a presidential pardon.

The mop-haired crypto crook, who also dished out another $40million to Democratic candidates in the 2022 mid-terms, has always been a gambler.

Even so, few who watched his spectacular downfall that year amid the $8billion collapse of his FTX crypto exchange might have predicted his latest spin on the roulette wheel of fate as he languishes in prison.

Despite reportedly once considering 'paying' Donald Trump to drop out of 2024 contention, it seems the prospect of another 23 years in prison and a flurry of presidential pardons has changed his tune.

In particular, after former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernandez was given one earlier this month, Bankman-Fried declared the politician had been 'framed' by 'Biden's DEA' over drug-trafficking and weapons charges.

The 33-year-old heralded the pardon on his X account, which became active again earlier this year, saying of the ex-president's new-found freedom: 'I can't think of a single man more deserving than him.'

SBF, as he loved to be known in his heyday consorting with world figures such as Bill Clinton and Tony Blair, revealed he spent 18 months getting to know Hernandez in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Now his own Trump get-out-of-jail card is apparently something else he'd like to have in common.

Bankman-Fried, sentenced in 2023 on seven counts of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering, has said he also donated $40million to Republican causes through 'dark channels' to avoid publicity. But there was no mention of contributing to Trump.

Also, that time Maxine Waters blew a kiss to Sam Bankman-Fried, for all of his political donations to the Democrat Party.

If you can't do the time … then don't do the crime.

“ Unless he can give evidence against some top dog democrats, there is nothing he can do to save himself.”

There is no “unless” for this enemy of society.

You do the crime, you do the time.

If Trump follows his usual pattern, a presidential pardon will soon be forthcoming.

Why are prisoners allowed on the internet?

That might be the way it should be, but that isnt how it works. Prosecutors do make deals if what you have to offer is worth the deal. It allows the prosecutor to pad his resume if he can get some big fish by giving up some of the penalty in the process.

I’ve been a super Trump support since 2016, but if he lets another convicted criminal out of prison, I’ll never support him again and I’ll do everything possible to persuade other to do likewise.

I hesitate to depress you but the fact is that for decades the prison experience in this country has only one goal and that is to deny convicted criminals their freedom to be on the streets interacting with the public. Otherwise, they retain virtually every right you or any other law-abiding citizen has and a few you and they DO NOT have, e.g. free medical and dental care, free legal counsel, free meals, free exercise facilities and so on. And people wonder why criminals don’t seem to fret over the possibility of incarceration!

I operate according to the philosophy “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. President Trump is the enemy of my enemy, so I will always support him fully, even if I disagree strongly on some things.
