Police probe potential ties between Brown University attack and MIT professor slaying
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are investigating possible ties between Saturday’s shooting at Brown University and Monday’s slaying of a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Target 12 investigators have learned.
Senior law enforcement officials tell Target 12 that federal, state and local authorities are now examining a potential connection between the two crimes. Multiple people familiar with the investigation said they have discovered evidence showing the two may be linked.
The possible connection marks a shift in the investigation. Ted Docks, special agent in charge of the FBI Boston office, said at a briefing Tuesday that there “seems to be no connection” between the two shootings.
The next briefing on the investigation is scheduled to be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at police headquarters in Providence.
The violence began around 4 p.m. on Saturday, when an unidentified gunman shot and killed two students — Ella Cook and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov — and injured nine others after opening fire inside a Brown engineering building where students were studying for an exam.
Two days later, an unidentified gunman shot MIT professor Nuno Loureiro multiple times inside his home in Brookline, Massachusetts, about 50 miles north of Providence. He died at a local hospital on Tuesday.
In Providence, the unidentified suspect wore a dark jacket, mask and hat. Surveillance video captured him walking near the Brown campus for multiple hours before entering the Barus & Holley building where he opened fire.

In Brookline, a Boston suburb, an unidentified killer entered Loureiro’s home on Gibbs Street. The suspect shot the professor multiple times and has since remained at large, according to police.
Loureiro, 47, was originally from Portugal and started working at the school in 2016.
He was named last year to lead the Plasma Science and Fusion Center, working on advanced clean energy technology and other research.
CBS reporting a person of interest has been found connected to the Brown Shooting
We now wait and see how this pans out.
Looks like Boston PD linked the shootings and took over the hunt.
Look how fast its moving now.

Thanks for the Brown update.
“Qualified people make a difference”
Looked like DEI people were running the show in Rhode Island.
Have they checked the atlas meteor yet?
Definitely. Totally unqualified for their jobs.
Well, well, well - the professor who taught the economics course at Brown, though she was not at the study session, and the professor at MIT were both prominent Jewish educators. Once that fact became known, a conspiracy was suspected by some of us. Whether there is indeed a direct link (DNA on bullets for example) remains to be divulged.
Wouldn't you like to be an insect in his basement to see his home experiments!

Well, well, well….time to arrest everyone marching in our streets chanting,
“GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADA.”
That would include a bunch of demoncrats, muslims, Antifa/Trantifa.
It’s a war.
I’ve been home today sandbagging.
The creek is flooding.
I’m wet, cold and not in any mood for demoncrat horse manure.
Just deport them ALL.
🚨 BREAKING: Authorities have put out a NATIONWIDE ARREST WARRANT for a new “person of interest” in the Brown University shooting, per Fox
This person’s name has NOT been made public.
Hopefully authorities are closing in, but I have very little hope for them at this point. pic.twitter.com/P9taUteaDY— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) December 18, 2025
If they know the guy at Brown, arrest him. Figure out the possible connections later.
LOL!
“Ted Docks, special agent in charge of the FBI Boston office, said at a briefing Tuesday that there “seems to be no connection” between the two shootings.”
So much for the premise of the headline and article.
Someone is liable to Docks him.
It appears the sleeper cells have awoken.
“It appears the sleeper cells have awoken.”
I agree. Churches and Christmas gatherings will be targets.
Synagogues and Hanukkah gatherings also.
Carry your weapons, folks.
Furthermore, the article from that local news station said police were "probing" or "investigating possible" ties.
There was something that caused them to at least look into the possibility the two murders were connected in some way.
Until someone comes out and definitively states there is no connection, looks like the investigation into that possibility continues.
As long as the violence is directed at Ivy League schools... let them figure it out for themselves.
I’d be surprised if the hit on the professor wasn’t professional.
At first glance he did his homework to ID both the poor Alabama girl and this MIT guy
Or had a boost from somewhere
