Pennsylvania House Passes Amendment for Abortions Up to Birth

Yesterday the Pennsylvania state House passed the measure for abortions up to birth by one vote.

Not only would it allow abortions on demand throughout pregnancy, it would force Pennsylvania residents to fund abortions.

““House Bill 1957 is a highly regressive form of legislation which would wipe out protections against taxpayer funding of abortion at a time when the vast majority of taxpayers do not want their hard-earned money to pay for abortion,” said Maria Gallagher, executive director for the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, the Keystone State affiliate of National Right to Life.

“The vote was as tight as it could be—102 to 101. Ironically, two Democrats—Frank Burns and Anita Kulik—voted against the dangerous bill, while two Republicans—Joe Hogan and Kathleen Tomlinson—voted for it,” she explained. “House Bill 1957 is an abortionist’s dream. It would remove all limits on abortion. Parental consent, informed consent, and the 24 hour waiting period for abortion would all be wiped out. It would be the most radical law in the nation, permitting abortion for any reason throughout all nine months of pregnancy.”

The bill now moves to the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration. If you live in Pennsylvania, please call your state Senator and urge him or her to oppose HB 1957.

Public opinion polls consistently show that most Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, which is the taking of an innocent, unrepeatable human life.

“This bad bill would also wipe out important protections, such as parental consent and informed consent, which are vital to the health and safety of women and girls,” Gallagher added.

In addition, the sweeping Constitutional Amendment would end protections against brutal late-term abortions, upending our time-tested Pennsylvania law. The Amendment would mean abortion up to the moment of birth. Under current law, babies of six months’ gestation and older are protected from abortion, except in the rare cases where the life of the mother is at stake or the pregnancy would result in irreversible impairment of a major bodily function.

“House Bill 1957 is bad—blatantly a disaster. It is a poorly-drafted bill which would have a disastrous effect on taxpayers, parents, and vulnerable women and girls. This bill is the wrong prescription for Pennsylvania,” Gallagher added.

Gallagher lamented the timing of the vote.

“The week before Christmas, when Christians throughout Pennsylvania celebrate the birth of our Savior, the Democrat-led House of Representatives passed a Constitutional Amendment which would allow abortion up to the moment of birth,” she told LifeNews.

The idea is to abort native pregnancies, then declare we require immigration due to a declining birth rate. Thus, the solution to angry feminists rejecting “the patriarchy” is to import polygamist Muzzies who think a girl who is old enough to bleed, is old enough to breed. The irony is remarkable.

An infamous statement in the past.

The controversy over Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam in 2019 about the conversation of the woman and the doctor over the newly born baby set on a tray.

Kermit Gosnell operated his “clinic” in West Philadelphia until 2010. Fifteen years between a police raid that showed Pennsylvania amd the world the horrors of late term abortion and a branch of Pennsylvanias government trying to enshrine the same horror into the state constitution.

While I am all for state’s rights here and no federal abortion laws, this is lunacy. Up until birth??? We are doomed as a nation, then a species if we continue this way.

It wasn’t that long ago that PA had a pro-life Democrat governor.

This vote is so the pro-abort stuff can become a PA constitutional amendment which has to be voted on in a statewide referendum. I’d like to see the wording on the referendum. I think it also needs two sessions of the legislature to vote for it to pass it on the referendum stage.

Why stop at birth? Every “justification” for abortion up until birth can certainly be used to argue for the right of a mother to kill her infant children.

If it follows the usual wording on such amendments it will be very deceptive and never actually state that it would allow abortion up to birth.

If it goes after birth, then it’s a slippery slope to capital punishment... /s

Who’s going to stop paying taxes because of more dead babies? What does it take to justify a tax rebellion?
And to stop paying, legally — who’s going to quit working to pay taxes because of more dead babies? That’s even harder!

Why stop at birth?

Indeed! I can think of several people who need to be aborted; and, they are theoretically adults.
