Heavily armed police officers rammed a car to arrest at least five people in Sydney, Australia.
They were seen detaining several men following the collision.
At least five men were pulled from the crashed vehicle in Liverpool before multiple arrests were made.
Images from the scene showed the men lying on the red and footpath with their hands zip-tied behind their backs.
The New South Wales (NSW) confirmed the operation in a brief statement, saying there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
“A police operation is underway on George Street, Liverpool”, the statement reads.
“There is no ongoing risk to the community. Further information will be available later today.”
The operation took place next to a primary school.
Nearby businesses, including a medical centre, were forced to lockdown as a precaution.
A police LandCruiser was used to ram a white Hyundai, which was carrying several occupants, according to some eyewitness accounts.
Police officers then descended from the vehicle armed with heavy weaponry.
Photos and videos of the detentions spread rapidly online, but police are yet to realise the identities of those arrested or confirm the exact number of people taken into custody.
The incident occurred just days after the Bondi Beach terror attack which claimed the lives of 15 people.
Naveed Akram, 24, has been charged with 15 counts of murder and one count of committing a terrorist act after waking from a coma.
The alleged attacker survived a shootout with police and was charged with 59 offences.
Investigators allege the terror attack was “inspired by Isis”.
He was charged on Wednesday after he was arrested at the scene and taken to a Sydney hospital with critical injuries on Sunday night.
“Police will allege in court the man engaged in conduct that caused death, serious injury and endangered life to advance a religious cause and cause fear in the community”, police said in a statement.
“Early indications point to a terrorist attack inspired by Isis, a listed terrorist organisation in Australia.
“Following extensive inquiries under Operation Arques, investigators attended a hospital where they charged a 24-year-old Bonnyrigg man with 59 offences.”
Akram was charged after waking from a coma on Tuesday and the man is set to be heard in court on Wednesday afternoon.
He did not apply for bail and will face court again on 8 April.
Among the charges against him are 40 counts of wounding with intent to murder.
There is also one count of placing an explosive in or near a building, a charge of discharching a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and a charge of publicly displaying a terrorist symbol.”
Akram allegedly opened fire along with his 50-year-old father, Sakid Akram, at people attending an event to mark the start of an eight-day Hanukkah festival at Bondi beach on Sunday.
Among the deaths was a 10-year-old child. Another 17 people remained in hospital with injuries on Wednesday night.
The incident was declared a terrorist event on Sunday night.
“heavy weaponry”
What kind of self-respecting terrorist drives a Hyundai?..............Don’t they know TOYOTA is the choice of all real pro terroristas?.............
They probably were saying bad things about Muslims and the Prime Minister, which causes the Police Force to actually do something.
VIDEOS HERE:
Exactly
Should be ramming the cars and arresting the political scum who let all the muzzies in.
Were the cops driving a clown car like you see in the circus? They make Rhode Island cops look badass. Oz is lost.
I read about this on another news site.
I am left confused. Were the 5 dudes-—
1. Aussie version of the Proud Boys?
2. Jihad Joes?
Since the Aussie PM seems more concerned about Right Wing Extremism, I am guessing the 5 dudes are Proud Boys.
Meanwhile, the power that be want more gun control and curbs on free speech
They appear to be Mooselimbs...............
“He did not apply for bail and will face court again on 8 April.”
8 April???
Yep. More muzzies.
L
They were going after the school. Without a doubt.
Look for that here in the ‘gun free’ schools.
Did the police recover any weapons from the vehicle they crashed?
LOL. Australia actually arrested their suspects and yet you think Providence “I know nothing. I see nothing” cops are bad asses by comparison.
...Police noticed that they were all islamic and arm3d to the hilt, so they let them go and quickly sped off after a car full of white grandmothers who were also headed for the beach. Although unarmed, they were clearly a danger to society and are all doing life behind bars now.
...The police hav3 apologized profusely for pulling over the heavily armed muslim men, and have said that they will be more careful to identify what ethnic group is driving a vehicle, so that they will never pull over muslim men from here on out.
