New South Wales police commissioner Mal Lanyon said police did ‘a fantastic job’
An eyewitness from Sunday’s massacre at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, stated police officers hesitated as two terrorists sprayed bullets at a group of Jews gathered to celebrate Hanukkah, while video analysis indicates law enforcement waited several minutes after arriving on the scene to engage the shooters.
Shmulik Scuri, who was on the beach with his family during the attack, told reporters that 4 police officers in the vicinity "froze" as the terrorists fired into a crowd of 2,000, killing at least 15 and wounding 40 more.

Did they freeze or were they told to stand down?
Probably trying to work out how anyone could possibly be using guns in gun-free Australia. 🙄
When facing law-abiding citizens, the police are prepared to act like storm troopers.
When facing criminals, the police become little girls.
More anarcho-tyranny.
Could be any number of reasons. Since I wasn’t there, I’m in no position to offer an opinion.
In high-stakes moments like the Bondi Beach attack, police face an impossible tightrope: act decisively to stop killers, yet know every split-second choice will be dissected by cameras, inquiries, and a polarized public.
The tactical realities—chaotic crowds, elevated rifle-wielding shooters—explain any brief pause before returning fire, but we can’t dismiss the subtler human factor. Constant global scrutiny, the lingering echo in the news of “defund” rhetoric, and the fear of career-ending backlash inevitably seep into officers’ minds, fostering a fractional but real caution.
We ask them to risk their lives with near-perfect judgment under unimaginable stress, then second-guess them afterward. True accountability is essential, but when it chills the very boldness needed to confront evil, society pays the price alongside the brave men and women in uniform.

couldn’t have said it better, we see this in school shootings here. The mental illness that has infected our society, they have been conditioned to be careful not to offend the invaders. The proof is during the press conference rhode island college shooting the message in the police chiefs ear was “we dont use the word custody anymore” this is important......to them. The Rhode island college shooting, all rat infested woke mentally ill government and law enforcement idiots who care about themselves and thier status and not human lives
The police froze just as they did in Parkland and Uvalde.
Coincidence or policy?
Women as front line police is a bad idea.
Convince me otherwise.
They were girls. That’s part the problem that this article does not address.
“Since I wasn’t there, I’m in no position to offer an opinion.”
You can speculate. It is allowed.
Lol.
If they are going to engage the shooters, they have to insure there are no civilians in the background who could possibly be injured. Safety first.
Other than that, I don't know...
True, but this smells like Uvaldi TX.
As if it was “out of an abundance of caution”, which never seems to work out for the victims.
Woke administration not supporting their cops.
Video shows them basically doing nothing.
But the current talking point on the left is that they were “bravely directing people away”.
Today's police are not trained to face fire and maybe die for the people that they allegedly protect. They are trained to be able to go home every day.
Probably thought that the shooters might be Muslims and were afraid of being labeled “Islamophobic”
Well the guy Ahmed al Ahmed who disarmed one of the shooters got some gunshot wounds. The news is silent on who shot him, which tells me that it was the police.
