… Among other requirements, Minneapolis' separation ordinance forbids Minneapolis police from taking part in immigration enforcement or assisting ICE agents. It also prevents city employees from investigating an individual when the only law they've violated is being in the United States illegally. City employees are also restricted from inquiring about immigration status except when required to do so by law.
This week, the council presented a revised version of the separation ordinance with tougher language intended to combat ICE, amid a targeted immigration operation ordered by President Trump focused on the Somali community.
The new ordinance declares the city will "vigorously oppose" any attempt to use city resources for immigration enforcement. The revised ordinance also codifies an executive order issued last week by Mayor Jacob Frey restricting ICE from staging operations in city-owned lots, parking lots or ramps.
There are exemptions that allow police to work with ICE or federal authorities for operations like criminal investigations. In those cases, the new ordinance requires police officials to prepare a report detailing the operation and explaining why the city took part and submit it to the mayor, the council, and the public. The ordinance also opposes the government's practice of hiding the identity of federal agents, saying that working alongside anyone who lacks clear agency identification, who is masked, or conceals their identity or badges would be contrary to the values of the city and harmful to the trust and public safety of city residents.

Textbook insurrection.
I remember reading after the martyrdom of St George of Fentanyl that the Minneapolis City Council had something like nine dems and one green and no Republicans. Is this still pretty much the case?
I also remember that even though St George died in a city and state controlled by democrats his death was blamed on Trump. Funny how that works.
Turn off federal funding for the entire state. For every day they refuse to cooperate, they lose one weeks worth of federal goodies.
Cities and States that accept Federal funding, can’t arbitrarily pick and choose which Federal laws they are going to ignore. Every government official takes an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, which includes the legal laws of the Federal government. They need to have all Federal funding withdrawn.
The grift is about to dry up.
RE: Textbook insurrection.
Precisely.
If not punished for being illegal then the insurrectionists will be emboldened.
Like the flash mobs breaking display cases and running out of the electronics and jewelry stores to waiting SUVs as police stand down. No arrests.
I say again, allowing “sanctuary cities” and states should have stopped within the first day, long ago.
Why not have the Mafia style organized crime syndicates now declare “Our headquarters is a sanctuary. We do not recognize any laws or law enforcement personnel. We no longer cooperate
in any way.”
RE: Turn off federal funding for the entire state.
Right now a judge heard someone suggest that and is writing out an injunction against it. Then an appeals court will stop Trump and ask for interest to be given on the wait to get the money given back.
The game is fixed.
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That’s how it goes
Everybody knows.
Everybody’s talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows.

“Minneapolis City Council bolsters ordinance that prevents police from helping ICE”
It’s going to get in interesting when the cops are called when an ICE member is injured or killed and they just stand by. They need to read the federal criminal statute that enforces Constitutional limits on conduct by law enforcement officers is 18 U.S.C. § 242. Section 242 which does apply.

More insurrection by the Minneapolis City Kakistocracy.
Let the garbage rot. There is little hope that the “Twin Cities,” can survive.
St. Paul has a better chance to eke out a survival.
I pity the city that I had layovers in for ten years. 1967-1977.
Walking to the Capitol Building was great exercise.
The Capitol had a display of Flags, in Memory of the troops who served in the Civil War.
PS Two high school baseball teammates of mine played for the “Twins,”
Fed law supersedes stste or city idiocy
Morons asking for payback.....
Can the social contract survive illegal immigration if local municipalities can override Federal law? US citizens surrendering their safety, security and property to local warlords advocating for foreign supremacy is a recipe for warfare. The left is agitating for armed conflict.
I can think of ordnance that would resolve the situation.
If you cut off federal funding, ill bet mn will stop paying federal taxes. And will be better off w/o federal funds or taxes. MN sends more to d.c. than they receive
That was a stupid thing they did there. Nothing innocent about Geo. Floyd that I could see. If that was martyrdom, then how is martyrdom defined?
You mean like Ilhan Omar?
