CASA GRANDE — The perimeter of Taco Giro, a Mexican restaurant on East Cottonwood Lane, was lined with yellow tape Friday morning and, as confirmed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was one of numerous southern Arizona locations of the company involved in a sweep that took multiple individuals in custody.
In response to a request from PinalCentral to confirm ICE presence, ICE spokesperson Leticia Zamarripa stated ICE and the IRS, as well as other federal partners, had conducted 16 search warrants in southern Arizona “as part of a years-long investigation into immigration and tax violations.”

According to a Dec. 2 press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, 190 people were charged with immigration-related offenses from Nov. 22 to 28. The District of Arizona makes these announcements weekly.
The majority of those charges, 106 cases, involved those accused of illegally re-entering the U.S. Seventy-one people were also charged for illegally entering. Thirteen cases were brought against those accused of illegally smuggling people across the border.

Same thing happened to a Mexican restaurant here in my small town in Alabama. Now if they would just raid our WalMart on any given Saturday.
They need to put these businesses out through fines and penalties. And then fine/ jail owners.
That is the only thing that is going to make any difference.
Illegal workers are disposable and easily replaced.

Funny, just before I read your comment I was thinking that I haven’t heard about incidents like this at restaurants since the ‘70’s when “La Migra” would raid and clean them out.
My local WalMart has been called MexiMart for a decade now. I have noticed that recently, you just don’t see them much. Back in the day, you could shop at 2 AM and the place would be full of them, including little kids.

Usually payroll taxes. I know someone who did Accounting for some and you had to constantly explain payroll taxes to them. They wanted to pay everyone like a 1099.
