How Ukraine's corrupt politicians are forcing Kyiv towards a Putin-approved peace deal: How embezzled millions, a golden toilet, and a president giving jobs to his pals could topple Zelensky

Luxury mansions, duffel bags stacked full of cash, and a golden toilet.

These are just some of the excesses that members of Volodymyr Zelensky's inner circle enjoyed as Russian missiles rained down on civilians, according to Ukraine's top anticorruption agencies.

The scandal had old-school elements: its co-conspirators are accused of employing code names for each other such as 'Professor', 'Sugarman', 'Karlson', and 'Rocket' as they lined their pockets amid Moscow's years-long invasion.

The corruption crisis sweeping Zelensky's government could not have occurred at a more pivotal moment in the country's history, as it thrashes out a peace proposal that will determine its future.

Just as Kyiv negotiators were travelling across the world desperately trying to convince the White House not to sell off Ukrainian sovereignty for lucrative business deals with the Kremlin, something was rotten back home.

The upper echelons of Ukraine's political class were allegedly embroiled in a £76 million embezzlement scandal in the energy sector, forcing suppliers to fork out eye watering sums even as families suffered power outages.

The kickback scheme has resulted in the ousting of Zelensky's chief negotiator and right-hand man, Andriy Yermak, who vowed to go to the front line to fight the Russians soon after his home was raided by investigators.

The sprawling scandal has led to the crippling of Zelensky's inner circle and has made Kyiv appear weak, fuelling Vladimir Putin's propaganda machine about Ukraine being an unstable country led by corrupt leaders.

The criminal conspiracy may also give Donald Trump's administration further reason to push Kyiv into accepting devastating concessions when it comes to the peace plan - capitulations to the Kremlin which Ukrainians view as surrender.

I suspected the flow of economic aid to Ukraine would have it league of corrupt parasites skimming money for themselves. What also appears likely is that same corruption worked to undermine the peace to keep the flow coming. IMO.

I’m starting to think the best course of action is to let Putin have all of Ukraine. He’ll have his hands full for at least a decade trying to straighten things out.

I had the idea a while back the Trump should hire Hunter Biden as a consultant, due to his deep knowledge of Ukraine and all. Without a doubt he’d soon be up to his old tricks with old cronies and then we’d have something to indict him on that isn’t covered by his old man’s pardon.

Hmm, defeat Russia or grift many, many millions? Seems the Ukraine leadership has made their collective choice.

All those soldiers on the front are watching their government and I have no doubt it discourages them.

Like all soldiers ever, they are asking themselves if it’s worth it.

It won’t be long now...

Your hypocrisy truly knows no bounds.

You speak about corruption in Ukraine while systematically ignoring corruption in Russia, which is far worse by every measurable standard.

All those Russian corrupt generals who have been arrested... so many...
All those politicians...

Your imbalanced “reporting,” paired with your willingness to give Russia a free pass on its extravagant corruption, is jaw-dropping.

Here is something to sink your teeth into:
Putin’s Palace: The Story of the World’s Biggest Bribe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_tFSWZXKN0

Navalny paid with his life to expose what Putin represents: one of the most entrenched and ruthless systems of corruption modern history has seen.
Putin’s palace is just one example of how the Russian regime abuses public funds, misusing ordinary citizens’ tax money beyond imagination and lives on bribes, bribes, bribes.

If you are interested about corruption why willfully ignore the endless corruption in NeoSoviet Russia of today?

Was there any question how corrupt Ukraine was when everyone knew about senile Joe’s son Hunter receiving $$$millions from Ukraine?

Western MSM turned a bling eye until it was finally disclosed our great friend Ukraine was soaking and grifting $$$ billions from US taxpayers.

President Trump, time to PULL THE PLUG on little Z.

I doubt he wants the whole of Ukraine. He'd be taking on a welfare state.

"Hmm, defeat Russia or grift many, many millions? Seems the Ukraine leadership has made their collective choice."

That's the main reason they've been under a state of emergency all this time. The idea is to keep your people hostage and in the dark, while giving yourself even more opportunities to grift. Every 90 days Zelensky signs a new state of emergency extension. He just signed his 16th.
