The European Commission could announce a package to support the local automotive sector, including a possible watered down version of its 2035 combustion engine phase-out, on December 16, an industry source briefed on the matter said.

Brussels is so far planning to announce the package on December 10, but EU transport commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas said earlier this week that the package could be delayed until January.

The source said that December 16 was a target but could still change. A spokesperson for the European Commission declined to comment on the new date, which was first reported by Germany's Tagesspiegel Background.

All Euro-weenies will be required to purchase a new Mercedes or BMW every 3 years.
Because the Germans say so!

The Trabants come later.
After the “great upheaval” when the communists win.
And everyone is amazed that it is the same Germans as today.

No! Don't do that!

By all means, go and completely eliminate combustion engines from all your EU vehicles. Go electric all the way. The sun is always shining to power your vehicles.

Go all electric and help out the auto industry in America and elsewhere, because, people are shying away from EVs and going with ICE vehicles. Not too many Americans are going to be buying your EVs, so, your auto industry will slowly die, which would help the American auto industry, as well as that of Japan and S.Korea.

They'll also need to have bicycles in their garages as backups, for when the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow.

a package to support the local automotive sector

AKA government subsidies and non-tariff import barriers. President Trump should be ready with a tariff response.

IF the EU keeps up their EV nonsense, that "support" package will morph into total state ownership of the auto industry or the EU will have no auto industry ...

The problem they have with the EV mandate is that the Chinese EVs are pretty good, and MUCH cheaper than the locally made product. They’ll have to either ban Chinese imports, or *GASP* place a tariff on them.
