Woman found guilty in brutal 2018 killing of retired nurse at Rolling Hills Estates mall

A seven-year legal battle came to a close this week after a jury found 47-year-old Cherie Lynnette Townsend guilty of murdering retired nurse Susan Leeds during a robbery at the Promenade on the Peninsula in Rolling Hills Estates, family members confirmed.

In the years following her initial arrest in 2018, Townsend publicly maintained she had been wrongfully targeted by investigators, the L.A. Times reports. Months after her release, she accused then–L.A. County Sheriff Jim McDonnell of falsely naming her as the murder suspect and said the investigation had been racially charged.

Townsend went there specifically to find an “easy target” to steal money from so she could pay for her daughter to attend a cheerleading competition in Florida.

She chose a very wealthy, mostly White area to "do her business.

Glad she was finally caught, even if it took five years and she screamed "racism" at every turn.

And no, as the now deceased husband said: "Susie didn't deserve this."
