Nigel Farage erupts as Keir Starmer cancels more elections next year

Nigel Farage has erupted after the Labour government moved to cancel yet more elections next year. Voters in Essex, Hampshire, Sussex, Brighton, Norfolk and Suffolk were set to have their say on new mayors in 2026, as part of Labour’s commitment to more devolution.

However it emerged last night that these elections are now being postponed until 2028, with ministers set to blame local council reorganisations for the delay. Nigel Farage has now condemned the move, branding it ‘despotic’. The Reform UK leader slammed: “For the second year running, this failing Labour government will now CANCEL elections in areas they fear that Reform will win.

It’s the second set of major elections delayed by this government, after a number of councils last year were allowed to dodge votes.

Mr Farage was joined in his outrage by the Liberal Democrats, with spokesman Zoe Franklin branding it a “disgrace”.

“Democracy delayed is democracy denied. We are fighting to end this blatant stitch up between Labour and the Conservatives over local elections.

“The Liberal Democrats will keep working to give millions of people their vote back in May.”

The Tories’ Sir James Cleverly MP, Shadow Housing, Communities and Local Government Secretary, said: "This is a scandalous attempt to subvert democracy by a Labour government whose credibility and popularity are already in tatters.

I do not consider the governments of the UK or the EU to be allies of ours anymore. In fact, they work to undermine our freedom. We need to dump NATO and put these tyrannical mongrels out of our orbit.

They can be on their own, because they want the US to be just like them.

We dodged a bullet in 2024 but the threat is still very much alive. This democracy bullsh_t they peddle is a big joke.

This is the second time they’ve done this.

The first time was announced in February...

I used to listen to Alex Jones because I thought his rants were funny. Unfortunately it looks like he was correct all along.

I think the aggressive deportation of Somali’s is a good move for the mid-term elections. The Republican’s platform can simply be stated as ... “a vote for my opponent is a vote to re-import the third world”.

They never had a written constitution. Their “rights” were maintained by “tradition”.

Whenever the ruling group thought their power was threatened by the exercise of “rights”, the “rights” were eviserated in law.

This started in 1920 with the virtual abolition of an “Englishman’s right to arms”.

It has recently become evident in the elimination of the right to speak freely.

Now the Rulers are openly pushing to eliminate jury trials for any offense which has a prison sentence of less than three years.

You see it right, Mr. Clements. To paraphrase ‘The Man in Black’:

👍 Good strategy 👍
