Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy declared on Monday that the "days of a 'Wild Wild West' trucking industry are over" amid the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal alien drivers.
In a post on X, Duffy responded to an Associated Press report that read, "BREAKING: Nearly 44% of U.S. truck driving schools could close after a federal review found many may be out of compliance with government rules."

"Huge Alert: US Department of Transportation is giving thousands of trucking schools 30 days to comply with federal rules for drivers, or they may be forced to close down," Duffy's post read.
"The days of a 'Wild Wild West' trucking industry are over under the Trump administration," he added.
Secretary Duffy's response was completely opposite to the AP story, which appeared to bemoan the closure of the trucking schools because President Donald Trump and his administration are determined to make our roads safer, rather than continue allowing people who can't read English or understand our road signs to get commercial licenses.
Here's a smidge from that AP write-up:
Nearly 44% of the 16,000 truck driving schools in the U.S. may be forced to close if they lose their students after a review by the federal Transportation Department found they may not be complying with government requirements.
The Transportation Department said Monday that it plans to revoke the certification of nearly 3,000 schools unless they can comply with training requirements in the next 30 days. The targeted schools must notify students that their certification is in jeopardy. Another 4,500 schools are being warned they may face similar action.
"We are reining in illegal and reckless practices that let poorly trained drivers get behind the wheel of semi-trucks and school buses," Duffy wrote in a statement posted to the DOT website.

President Trump's been trying to clean up one mess after another in the aftermath of the deadly consequences of former President Joe Biden's open borders policy for illegal aliens during his time in office, and this is just another one.
And it's infuriating because it's leading to horrible accidents and deaths of innocent people as a result of illegal aliens driving trucks who shouldn't be.
It's really simple: comply with our rules or lose your ability to run your business. Period.
A few people in the law enforcement field just won’t give up.
“ result of illegal aliens driving trucks”
And all sorts of vehicles, not just truck drivers. Focusing only on truck drivers is a problem when daily we hear reports of illegals causing harm or death to Citizens who were just going about their day. Its criminal, as are all illegals.
We have been avoiding interstate highways since the accident in FL where the two ragheads made an illegal U-turn on an interstate and committed murder. Then the issue of non-English-speaking illegals with CDLs became big news.
It’s Muslim Roulette to enter an on ramp any more.
I would like to know where the Teamsters and PDJT’s new bestest buddy Sean O’Brien are. They have been conspicuously silent about this, but it is their profession on the line here.
I thought the purpose of their union was to promote safety and professionalism throughout the ranks, thus justifying the insanely high costs for OTR and local drivers.
I guess the contributions (kickbacks) from giant trucking companies are just too lucrative to care about actual “standards”.
