Though charged in 2023, Colombian national Michael Nunez Daza was only extradited to the U.S. earlier this year.
The Justice Department this week announced Colombian national Michael "Luky" Nunez Daza, the leader of a transnational drug money laundering operation, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison, as part of the Trump administration’s Operation Take Back America.
Nunez Daza's sentence follows him pleading guilty in August to one count of money laundering conspiracy in the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida, in which he also was sentenced.
The department, in announcing the sentence Wednesday, said that it was part of the Take Back operation "that marshals the full resources of the [agency] to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations."
The sentencing comes amid President Donald Trump ramping up efforts to combat the illicit drug trade, primarily from South America.
He has directed increasing strikes to interdict suspected drug-running operations in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea, while putting pressure on Venezuela, a country run by dictator Nicolás Maduro, who the Trump administration says is giving support to drug traffickers.
Earlier this week, the Trump administration designated the Venezuela-based Cartel de los Soles–Cartel of the Suns in English– as a terrorist organization. The United States believes that the cartel is headed by Maduro himself and senior Venezuelan officials.
The Venezuelan government "categorically, firmly, and absolutely rejected" the designation.
Last week, the pressure reached a new stage after the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, arrived in the region at the direction of the president.

I suspect the charges against him could possibly be trumped up by the SDNY lawfare machine, since the leftist Honduran president that turned him over is the wife of Obama’s pal Zelaya, a friend of Obama’s pal Lula day Silva of Brazil. I wonder if Xiomara Castro owes her election victory to the Palestinian community or ooutside assistance.
Merrick Garland could get pretty much any thug including Guzman to make up crap in exchange for a deal and then use the “info” as evidence to frame the opposition. He certainly has enough practice doing it against Trump.
I have zero confidence in the government and the DoJ under Biden after the insanity of the Russia hoax and Covid and they haven’t done anything yet to restore confidence. Just can’t believe anything any more.

Sorry, the first part of the post got chopped off :
...
I take it that this guy was not playing by the globalist playbook.
It’s sad that I don’t trust our government in doing what is honest or just anymore.

Sounds like standard SDNY lawfare... Honduras was a narcostate way back in 2009 at least, when Zelaya’s gangs were rioting and protesting. It didn’t just happen after 2014.
Obama and Biden were doing everything they could to keep Zelaya in power back then when the Honduran courts blocked him from changing their constitution to allow him to stay in office.
Then he was thrown out, and then he sneaked back in but got stuck in the Brazilian embassy during the Brazilian leftist Lula’s admin in Brazil, and then Xelaya’s wife X. Castro won an election, essentially giving him his long desired power back.

Rubbed Obama’s and Harris’s Palestinian supporters the wrong way by saying he was going to open an embassy in Jerusalem.
If the Biden administration and Merrick were really fighting the War on Drugs they wouldn’t have brought cocaine into the White House or put Biden’s cokehead son on the board of Burisma.

Apparently it is this guy’s fault that Joe someone smuggled cocaine into the Biden White House and got away with it.
Note the extradition was just a month after Kamala Harris flew to Honduras to attend the inauguration of “deposed” wanna-be dictator Zelaya’s wife as Honduras’ new President.
