Inside Ukraine ‘fortress belt’ Putin is demanding in return for peace – and how Russia would lose 2m troops storming it

LINES of dragons’ teeth bollards protect Ukraine from Russian attacks in the “fortress belt” tyrant Vladimir Putin insists must be surrendered before any ceasefire can be agreed.

The Sun on Sunday’s Defence Editor Jerome Starkey visited to see the barricades and tank trap trenches that President Volodymyr Zelenksy says would take four years to breach.

The UK’s Defence Intelligence experts predict 1.9million Russian troops would become casualties in the time it would take to overcome the belt — the best defended position in war-ravaged eastern Donbas.

It stretches 30 miles from Slovyansk to Kostyantynivka in Donetsk Oblast [province] of which Russia currently occupies 70 per cent.

The Kremlin took 40 per cent when it launched a war on Ukraine in 2014, and has captured 30 per cent more since February 2022.

You can already see the south and north pincers forming when you zoom out on the control map

More BS from the deluded British media. Russia will NOT lose anything close to 2M taking this region.

Seriously. If I had a dollar for every time The Sun reported that Vlad Putin were either deathly ill or ripe for being deposed, well, I’d have like a hundred bucks. Like much of what appears in the British rags concerning foreigh affairs, this is an obvious Mi-6 propaganda piece.

They have no intention of storming it except in the fantasies of neocons and Nazi Ukrainians. They intend to stand off from it and pound it in a war of attrition, and maybe exploit an occasional opening for a few miles.
That has been the pattern for a couple of years.

Ukraine and DC is like the Japanese Navy waiting for their one big decisive battleship battle that to win the war.
But it never comes…

“...President Volodymyr Zelenksy says would take four years to breach.

Zelensky is a blatant liar and a punk. Believe him?

“The UK’s Defence Intelligence experts...”

Who? I don’t think they have any.

“...predict 1.9 million Russian troops would become casualties in the time it would take to overcome the belt...”

If they fight a war consistent with the US Revolution they would. But if all they have to do is take a specific area I think bombing would do the trick. They might come out of their hole but to what?

“LINES of dragons’ teeth bollards protect Ukraine”

That didn’t even work in WWII.

Oh look, it’s the trashy, incompetent Brit media, again, that’s been wrong about everything - when it’s not making stuff up.

They must be right this time.

And if I had a dollar for every time we were told the Russians were about to surround the Ukrainian Army, or force a collapse in a matter of weeks, I'd have a thousand.

I'm happy to funneling weapons to Ukrainian as long as they keep killing lots of Russians.

The much ballyhooed Russian "pincers" still haven't succeeded taking Pokrovsk.

Russia advances by dozens or a hundred meters per day at a cost of over 1,000 KIA per day.

“The much ballyhooed Russian “pincers” still haven’t succeeded taking Pokrovsk.”

I watched video yesterday of Russian troops walking nonchalantly around downtown Pokrovsk.

Why would anyone take anything from the British media seriously about the war in Ukraine?

The propaganda coming from the British media about the war would have made Baghdad Bob blush.

Sounds like what they were saying about Ukraine’s great summer of 2023 offensive that was going to drive the Russians into the Black Sea and conquer Crimea, only in reverse. The 2023 Ukrainian offensive was totally defeated with massive Ukrainian casualties and that decisively settled the eventual outcome of this war. This new narrative is total Neocon bull****. The Russians will have little problem collapsing these Uke defenses.
