Ukraine has said a "common understanding" has been reached with the US on a peace deal aimed at ending the war with Russia.
The proposal is based on a 28-point plan presented to Kyiv by the US last week, which American and Ukrainian officials worked on during weekend talks in Geneva.
In a post on social media, US President Donald Trump said the original plan "has been fine-tuned, with additional input from both sides".
He added: "I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow and, at the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will be meeting with the Ukrainians."
President Zelensky's chief of staff said he expects Driscoll to visit Kyiv this week.
The Kremlin previously said that Russia had not yet been consulted on the new draft deal – warning it may not accept amendments to last week's plan.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that while Moscow had been in favour of the initial US framework, the situation would be "fundamentally different" if it had undergone substantial changes.

But it's probably false hope, as before.
What is acceptable to Kiev is unacceptable to Moscow, and vice versa.
Irreconcilable differences.
And in the early articles, so far there is no mention of the European proposal. Apparently it was dismissed out of hand by Moscow.
And now the US and Kiev are working from the original 28 point plan.
Globalist ghouls hardest hit.
Russia will deliberately make a demand that’s unacceptable to Ukraine so that the war can continue. They need the war.
A deal will be reached between parties that are carrying the load.
The players are Russia, Ukraine, & United States.
The Western European freeloader governments need to be left out in the cold.
We’ll get a armistice under this diplomatic arrangement, if we involve the deadbeats that live under our military umbrella, we won’t.
The opportunity is now, the warfare no matter what crowd is hanging on by a grapevine.
“The players are Russia, Ukraine, & United States.”
That appears to be the only parties at the table now.
I think even Ukraine told Europe to stfu and sit down.
Things are moving fast. Trump did that right.
This article does not offer anything new over the past few hours. The only matter of signif over that time was the WH informing Zelensky that his requested emergency meeting would not be taking place until he signed the deal.
Thanks for the update.
Have a citation for that Z snub?
Putin has already said he is against ALL three peace plan propositions.
the 19 point,
the 24 point,
and even the 28 point peace plan, the one Russia handed to America, which for a few hours was mistakenly believed to be an American peace-plan... (Witcoff’s lazy work and absolute lack of knowledge when it comes to handle such issues probably started this whole confusion).
Putin has stated against and again, he doesn’t want peace. Period.
For once Putin isn’t lying, therfore I think we should take his word for it this time.

“and even the 28 point peace plan”
I believe this effort is doomed to fail.
But that’s a false statement.
“I believe this effort is doomed to fail. But that’s a false statement.”
And Zeepers posting false information is nothing new here when the Zeepers falsely claim that Russia proposed their own capitulation plan.
I suspect that Russia feels that they need to get the Americans to SIT DOWN AND LISTEN to why this war started and what it will take to end it (and end it without Putin haning by rope from his own people), and so they’re playing along for the long-shot that progress can be made while talking, since it’s literally impossible to make progress using “megaphone diplomacy”, as the Russians rightly called it.
If the Ukraine boosters, Euros, war-pushers, Zeepers and WSJ types think the 28 point plan is bad, wait until they see what Russia comes back with. Maybe someone should have actually spoken to the Russians before plugging the plan... ya think?
The Russian SoS is on TV saying nobody has dealt with them since Alaska - yet this plan pops up out of nowhere. They learned of it in the media.
An absolute Chalie Foxtrot, and no way to negotiate. Then when (not if) talks fail, the retard-level western media will shout "oh look, Putin outsmarted the Trump admin again!" The truth is the Trump admin has outsmarted itself.
President Zelensky's chief of staff said he expects Driscoll to visit Kyiv this week.
Zel hasn't gotten the memo that he has no say whatsover. Worse, his days of power and grift are over, regardless if it's via a deal or forced surrender. He should be planning his escape to Israel with the millions he stole from us.
I’ll just leave this here for those who want to know the current lay of the land from someone with impeccable contacts.

The Euro-destroyers in Brussels are gonna stamp theor footies that Trump is ignoring them.
It’s quite noteworthy that Europe has no part in this play anymore. Any attempts of the European leaders to interfere with the peace process have been either crashed in the egg or simply ignored by the US.
No doubts, Europe has lost its weight and today its words and stance mean nothing to the US.
Trump ALSO says he's not gonna be involved until a final agreement is drawn up. The Euro's (all but the out-and-out Putin supporters like Orban) are seriously hacked at being left out of the process, and there is no possible way to provide any kind of serious security guarantees to Ukraine without their assent and support.
Here at home, I'd think the "It's not our war" crowd would be howling all the way to Pluto if the US / Trump signs off on security guarantees that WE provide that actually mean anything.
Despite all the propaganda thrown around by both sides, neither Russia nor Ukraine is anywhere close to defeat. Europe is now producing more artillery shells than Russia is, so Russia is supplanting with production from North Korea -- but that's a LONG logistics route, and the Ukies have already blown up the railway once. Russia has the manpower advantage, but Ukraine is still not pulling from its youngsters. China and India have cut imports of Russian crude oil considerably and floating storage is filling up, while Russia's cash reserve is almost burned up, but I suspect Putin's ability to wring rubles out of his population is still considerable. A potential liability to Russia is Iran, which is facing a likely truly horrific water crisis, but Putin may just discard them: He certainly has demonstrated he's more than capable of being a cold bastard.
If I was the Euros, I'd go ahead and confiscate those Russian assets NOW. Not doing so could well result in much bigger problems than loss of future investments, and that issue (future investments scared off) can be addressed with legislation limiting circumstances under which such seizures can be done.
The Euro’s have spent considerably more to support Ukraine than has the USA.
Why do you post such laughable drivel?
Troll alert.
Self appointed nobody.
