A misconduct probe into the boss of Silicon Valley’s largest water supplier has dragged on for a year – with no answers as to what the agency has discovered — while he continues to collect paychecks. A Santa Clara Valley Water spokesperson has confirmed CEO Rick Callender is still on leave. But the agency won’t say whether the investigation has concluded, or how much public money the agency has spent thus far to both investigate and pay its leader.

Outside of Valley Water, Callender serves as president of the NAACP of California-Hawaii State Conferences.

Before CEO Rick Callender went on leave from Valley Water, he booked five flights for himself and Chief of External Affairs Rachael Gibson that were paid for by his agency, according to public records obtained by the Post.

Callender and Gibson went on a weekend trip to Dallas on Feb. 6 for $1,020, and Callender flew to New York City the following weekend for $652, records show.

On June 11, Callender and Gibson went on a three-day trip to Phoenix for $1,100.

Callender and Gibson have two more trips planned this year to Charlotte for $2,124 on July 10 and to Washington, D.C., for $1,150 on Oct. 28.

Rick Callender, a longtime advocate for racial equality, also announced that he will establish a new unit within Valley Water, the Office of Racial Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This office will ensure effective diversity and inclusion practices are in place internally and also within the communities Valley Water serves.

In other words, he wants the entire company to be run by people who look like him.

“By median household income over the 2019–2023 period, Santa Clara County ranked first among all California counties, with a median household income of about $159,700, roughly two‑thirds higher than the statewide media”

Ultra rich and they put this DEI clown in charge? No wonder California is so screwed up. California never had slavery so has nothing to feel guilty about. The Mexicans there are guilt free.

“The Mexicans there are guilt free”

Their ancestral relatives enslaved tens of thousands of aboriginal tribes in the Mission system as “neophytes”.

They claimed it was for conversion but really it was to make them subjects of the Spanish Crown and to get free labor.

They died en masse.

When the missions were secularized after the Mexican War of Independence, the Neophytes were sold off to the large landowners to live under the Encomienda system, which is a debt peonage scam.

Whitewashing the Spanish/Mexican past started in the ‘50s, got going hard in the civil rights 60s/70s, and was ramped up into portrayal as some sort of Wonderworld in the 80s...up until now, when they are now the plural majority and have tried to push harder for cultural dominance. That has triggered pushback: California tribes countering the Mexicans as Victims rap with the real story.

This has resulted in attempts at renaming institutions from Spanish icons, like Cabrillo, to taking down statues like the Fr. Serra monument on the SF Peninsula.

Los Mexicanos have not been happy about their disgusting past being revealed. They were only too happy to keep screeching about the Evil Gringos Who Tooks Our Land!

Pobrecitos.

Per your link and post, the Kang has been on paid leave for a year and still the agency paid for flights in July & October this year?

This was Spaniards enslaving California Amerindians. Same as that DeNiro movie, The Mission. Or Portuguese were doing the enslaving (gold mines) and the converting. I saw it, the movie bombed.
