The problem is Moscow doesn’t want peace in Ukraine, it wants Ukraine in pieces.
Every time the White House offers an olive branch, the Kremlin torches it and commits more heinous war crimes.
Washington floated a leaders’ summit in October, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov wiped his shoes with it, demanding Ukraine stop resisting and the West ignore kidnapped kids and beheaded prisoners.
Well, Trump pulled the plug on Budapest, signaling he might punish the Kremlin, and a panicking Vladimir Putin dispatched Kirill Dmitriev with a “peace plan” so absurd it would shame a mid-level propagandist.
To make sure no one mistook this kabuki for compromise, Moscow murdered children in Ternopil with a Wednesday strike hundreds of miles from the front — a grim reminder Russia’s goal remains unchanged: kill Ukrainians for the crime of being Ukrainian.
Putin cannot win on the battlefield, but he still lusts after “all of Donbas.”
With lies and cruelty as his only cards, the aging KGB operative throws sand in our eyes and prays someone falls for it.
Ukrainians would pay the price under Russian occupation, which by now the world should know is nothing but rape, torture and mass graves.

What a stupid comment. Why else do you fight a war, except to see one's enemy in pieces?
“Putin needs to keep his war going as long as possible because war is het health of the state.”
Not sure we’re in any position to comment, considering that we not only severed up Yugoslavia, we even severed up Serbia after that.
But what the heck, it’s fun bombing the crap out of innocent people. Right?
The problem is Russian paranoia.
Russia won’t feel secure until it has expanded it defensive perimeter to the Carpathians.
If war was declared against the US or against Israel our people would be getting ready to fight - and the Israelis would be pulling their uniforms out of the closet to wash and iron.
When Russia invaded Ukraine the z-man closed the borders so men of military age were not allowed to leave.
That’s a sign the country is NOT worth defending, giving weapons to or any such stuff we do for countries worth defending.
Putin know this would be a long game. I predict this war does not end for at least 5 more years.
Putin is indeed a bully or beyond that, certainly a sociopath. He only cares about threats to his own well being.
Nothing is going to entice him or deter him, unless he feels his position threatened.
You aren’t going to get him to behave reasonably otherwise.
He doesn’t care about any of the silly things people attribute to him here. If he leaves both Ukraine and Russia in ruins fine with him, if he can still have what he wants.
What does he want? To steal stuff and kill people as long as he can get away with it.
Our people would be getting ready to fight? Have you looked around you recently?
This ain’t your grandpa’s USA. This crew is not lining up to fight. If that’s the option, most are heading back to their countries of origin.
Agreed. And it works great for the USA. What do we lose? Nothing, no need for us to pay for weapons when the EU can do it. No manpower lost.
In the meantime the Russian military and economy is sapped, taking them off the board in the short term. Which is a good thing as the chicoms are chomping at the bit.
The reasons for this war have been explained many times and those in the U.S. just don’t understand.
History lesson, who remembers the Cuban Missile Crisis from 1962. What exactly was that about? The Soviet Union putting offensive missiles in Cuba. Now why did that happen?
Because the U.S. had offensive missiles in Turkey aimed at Moscow and the Soviet Union after they told us not to do that.
Where are we 60 years later, basically the same problem. We tried to put Ukraine in NATO and put offensive missiles aimed at Russia after the Russians repeatedly said don’t do it. Now of course there is lot more to what is happening today, we want regime change in Russia and to take over all of their natural resources for our own purposes, i.e. pay off our debt and control the world and contain China.
So I guess the only solution is for Russia & China to put offensive missiles in Cuba and Venezuela. There problem solved and we can all live under a nuclear strike situation.
Wrong, this war will be over much sooner, say by Spring if not before.
What propaganda!
They’re!
The onely way this country can get an army is the Draft.
“1 May 2021”
“Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones destroyed 114 Armenian tanks, i.e. more than three battalions, 43 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, 141 artillery installation and MLRS, as well as a bunch of other military equipment of the Armenian army, and this is only in 24 days. The military conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia lasted 44 days”
“Even loitering ammunition purchased from Israel hit fewer armored vehicles than Turkish drones.”
“It is possible that this infographic is actually part of an information war, which was supposed to show Armenia that Azerbaijan is armed with “the most reliable attack drone” capable of destroying a bunch of enemy weapons without losing a single UAV.”
Moscow Times [10/27/2021]
The neighboring separatist-held Luhansk People’s Republic accused Kiev of using the Bayraktar in violation of ceasefire agreements that ban the deployment of foreign drones on the front line.
The Kremlin said Wednesday that Turkey’s supply of drones to Ukraine risks destabilizing the eastern Ukraine conflict
The Ukrainian army has been locked in a long-running conflict with separatist fighters in Donetsk and Luhansk since 2014 after Moscow annexed the peninsula of Crimea from Kiev. The conflict has claimed more than 13,000 lives.
Ukraine and its Western allies accuse Russia of sending troops and arms to support the separatists, which Moscow denies.
Warsaw Institute [27 October 2021]
“The Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 combat drone has been deployed at Donbas by the Ukrainian Joint Forces Operation for the first time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces said in a statement. The drone targeted the positions of pro-Russian insurgents on October 26. The incident has been met with criticism from Moscow.”
“The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that the unmanned aerial vehicle was used to attack a battery of howitzers that fired Ukrainian positions in Hranitne on the southern part of the line of contact. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and the other was wounded. Despite calls for a ceasefire from the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, “Russian-terrorist” forces did not stop the fire. The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces ordered the drone strike to “force the ceasefire.”
“The Ukrainian Joint Forces Operation said on October 26 that separatists made thirteen breaches to the ceasefire”

How a Dispute Over Groceries Led to Artillery Strikes in Ukraine
Deployed for the first time in combat by Ukraine and provided by a country that is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the drone hit a howitzer operated by the separatists. Things quickly escalated.
Across the border, Russia scrambled jets. The next day, Russian tanks mounted on rail cars rumbled toward the Ukrainian border.

BBC [26 November 2021]
they see the Kremlin sending a message that it’s ready to defend its “red lines” on Ukraine: above all, that it must not join Nato.
“I think for Putin it’s really important. He thinks the West has begun giving Ukraine’s elite hope about joining Nato,” political analyst Tatiana Stanovaya at R.Politik told the BBC.
“The training, the weapons and so on are like a red rag to a bull for Putin and he thinks if he doesn’t act today, then tomorrow there will be Nato bases in Ukraine. He needs to put a stop to that.”
Ukraine’s desire to join the security bloc is nothing new, nor is Russia’s insistence on vetoing that ambition in what it sees as its own “back yard”.
But Moscow has been rattled recently by the Ukrainian military using Turkish drones against Russian-backed forces in eastern Ukraine; the flight near Crimea of two nuclear-capable US bombers was an extra irritant.
“At a meeting between Putin and Biden, neither will give clear commitments but there may be some tacit understanding on how far the US is ready to go in increasing its military support to Ukraine,” Mr Kortunov argues. “That’s not impossible.”
“Whilst Putin has a flicker of hope that he can do a deal with Biden, he won’t take any rash steps. But if he thinks it’s all doomed, he could do the worst things we can imagine,” Tatiana Stanovaya warns.

Guardian [December 16, 2021]
“With tensions escalating along the border with Russia, Luke Harding visits troops in Ukraine’s Donbas region to gauge the mood ahead of a possible invasion. The war here has continued since 2014, when pro-Russian separatists seized Ukrainian cities.”
There’s a video I didn’t watch:

Name one Socialistic country that maintained power without having an external adversary to blame for all of its shortcomings. Without that external enemy, they cannot maintain control over the population.
Because you only read and watch western yellow media garbage like this, hence are very poorly informed. Hard to fight when your men, money and gear is evaporating. Government leaders running out of the country after robbing aid money doesn't help.
Ukraine's own press and government VIPs are acknowledging collapse of the front lines. Why do you think we're in "peace talks" with Russia setting the terms?
Europe would bankrupted and out of energy after one year, much less 5. Ukraine already is bankrupt.
The “why” has never been a mystery, Putin said why back in 2023:
Putin vowed on Thursday to fight on in Ukraine until Moscow secures the country’s “demilitarization”, “denazification” and neutrality(from NATO)
That coup also illegal a President from office that the overwhelming majority of voters in the annexed area voted for.
Those in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk, who vote for Viktor Yanukovych by more than 40 points were under no obligation to remain part of a Ukrainian government formed illegal.
This is where and lies come to die.
Ukraine is being destroyed on the battlefield. That is the reason Trump is trying to force Zelensky to make a deal.
If Ukraine doesn't, the Russians will take everything east of the Dnieper river and Odessa. So be it if Zelensky is stupid enough not to let Trump negotiate and end to the war.
