Islamist Leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan Warns Turkey Is Facing a Fertility 'Disaster'
Breitbart ^ | 21 Nov 2025 | Frances Martel

Islamist strongman Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued an address on Thursday in which he warned that Turkey was facing an impending “disaster” due to its rapidly declining birth rate, which has been under replacement fertility for nearly a decade.

Erdogan has spent much of his tenure at the helm of the Turkish government encouraging Muslim Turks to have more children and raise large families — with, according to Turkish statistics authorities, minimal success. He has previously declared it a Turkish Islamic duty to have more children and condemned the use of birth control as “treason,” insisting women have a responsibility to the government to have children.

Like many countries of medium wealth and above, Turkey’s population increases have slowed at education rates and female employment have risen.

The government documented the national fertility rate in Turkey for 2024 at 1.48 children per woman of child-bearing age, far below the 2.1 rate needed to ensure the population replaces itself as the elder generations pass away. While the rate is higher than in countries facing cataclysmic population declines such as South Korea (0.79) and Japan (1.20), Turkey’s fertility rate is under America’s 1.60, which remains a policy issue for the American government given it does not ensure population replacement.

“the national fertility rate in Turkey for 2024 at 1.48 children per woman of child-bearing age”

Surprisingly low.

He needs to import all of Gaza.

I knew this guy from Turkey, his name was Gurhang Gur, but everyone called him Gur.

It was amusing to call 411 and ask for Gur Gur and how many times they wanted to hear it before asking me to spell it, and their surprise when they found it.

Is there even 411 anymore?

From Gaza? Let’s ship them some of ours instead. Whole cities need to be de-Muslimized.

Must not be many white men in Turkey. Muslim women love the white boys.

The World Wide Web changed nearly everything in how most of us see the world. Since the ‘Net, even dirt poor countries now understand the difference between their level of living and other countries. Some of those other countries are not even very far away.

This awareness of how women in other lands now live, may be having an effect on how many Turkish women will use birth control or will endeavor to have more babies. If Erdogan relaxed the rules making women wear a hijab and always be in company of a male, this level of support may lead to more women choosing to have more children.

Even Islamic nations have low birth rates—Iran, Turkey, Gulf States.

It makes sense on why the Talbian is cracking down on the Internet in Afghanistan.

The population of the earth is supposed to start falling. The growth we have seen in the past 75 years is no longer sustainable.

Everyone complains about this being a population collapse, yet others have pointed out it could just be a overpopulation correction that will eventually level out

I scanned the headline and thought it read:

Turkey Is Facing a Fertilizer 'Disaster'

I thought, "Why don't we send them some of ours. The fertilizer produced in the Capitol Building alone should be enough to supply their entire agricultural system.

They seem to prolifirate at alarming rates in Germany, where generous child welfare benefits are available - generated by a German population that cannot afford children due to sky high taxation to fund...welfare benefits. Hmm....

When I was in high school I called asking for a classmate's father's number. His name was Hryhorij Pashtenko (Russian).

The information lady, said "That's a strange name." I joked "It's a strange family." She responded without missing a beat "Of which you, no doubt, are a member?"

I was teased, but it was a great rejoinder. Sometimes I miss live people for these things.

Maybe Turkey can import some “refugees” from neighboring countries (or Gaza!) to solve the problem.
