Trump’s DOJ Defends NFA Registration, Betraying Gun Owners
AMMOLAND ^ | November 22, 2025 | John Crump

The DOJ also takes a page out of the playbook of anti-gun groups by calling short-barreled rifles and shotguns “weapons of war.” They argued that the NFA is needed to regulate these firearms because of their use by criminals. Even if that were the case, the Second Amendment does not have an exception for weapons of war.” Even the Supreme Court has acknowledged this fact. In United States v. Miller, SCOTUS said SBSs could not be banned because they were not a “weapon of war.”

Maybe this is some more of that 27-D chess Trump plays?

The DOJ remains a left-wing, Deep-state cesspool.

No, this is stupid - and I bet Trump isn't even aware Bondi's people have done this. For now.

Unfortunately, he’s been doing a number of things right out of the DNC playbook

He’s apparently been getting some awful advice lately

Criminals don't worry about NFA registration. What a bunch of political crap. I didn't expect this BS from Trump. Trump and his admin are starting to annoy me! I just ignore all Trumps emails and txt messages asking for money. I send them to the spam folder or just delete them.

I would prefer battlefield image and sound analysis guided grenade launcher over a machine gun.

I’m a lousy shot.

There is an Untouchables episode that concludes organized crime never had more than a dozen machine guns at a time.

Tommy guns in the 1920s were about as expensive as cars I believe.

The NFA does the same thing which our anti-drug laws do. It empowers law enforcement officials with probable cause to investigate, detain, and imprison citizens where there is no other constitutional authority to do so.

The federal government has no domestic law enforcement authority outside of interstate commerce and taxation. The NFA’s tax provisions brought firearms under federal authority. That provision has been eliminated, so the federal government no longer has authority over firearms. Period.

The writer is over reacting. Sawed off shotguns have been illegal since the passage of the NFA in 1934.

And it should be mentioned that Trump sought to legalize suppressors and remove the tax on them via The Big Beautiful Bill, but it failed due to the Senate Democrat Parliamentarian removed it from the bill.

I can’t help but notice that this never happens with the dems. They are always 100% united on their goals and they fight like crazy for them. Our side, on the other hand, every single time, we get betrayed. Rush famously said that nobody could separate Trump from his supporters but him. He was right, and here we are. Wow.

Then the GOP majority should have fired him, and appointed a Republican Parliamentarian.

But of course they didn’t. It’s yet another example of why the Republican Party is sometimes called the stupid party.

I am not pleased with this one.

The NFA should be repealed.

Trump has never been a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. That is not a complete deal-breaker for me, but it is a very big negative mark.

As I understand, you’re wrong. The Senate’s parliamentarian did try to strip the suppressor/SBR tax elimination provision from the Big Beautiful Bill, but was overruled by the full Senate. The taxes, registers and penalties will become null and void in January.
