Oh, I know: The audience wanted to see President Donald Trump take a blowtorch to Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani, holding him accountable for his Marxist rhetoric, welcoming him to the D.C. Big Leagues with some Trumpian chin music.
It’s not your fault. Earlier Oval Office onslaughts whetted your appetite: “Trump’s tangle with Zelensky was pretty good. So [gets popcorn] this Mamdani mele oughta be a doozy. Beer me!”
And now you’re disappointed — or maybe, deep in your heart, even a little embarrassed — by the total lack of Mamdanian mayhem. You were expecting World War III and received a bouquet of flowers! Worst pay-per-view ever!
Good. Hold onto that thought. (We’ll double-back in a sec.)
If President Trump’s goal was to impress a conservative audience, believe me, his meeting with Mamdani would’ve gone 100% differently. Trump understands the MAGA audience better than anyone alive, because he’s the one who built it. Besides, he’s a natural-born entertainer; he knows how to put on an exciting, must-see TV show — and it’s simply not in his DNA to duck a fight (or button his lip). We’re talking about a guy who called a reporter “piggy” just a few days ago, so let’s not pretend like he’s shy about expressing himself!
But instead, President Trump turned the charm up all the way, batted his eyes, and was a total sweetheart to Mamdani. He killed him with kindness.
That’s because Trump’s target audience wasn’t conservatives. It was the radical leftists and the New York business community.
As we discussed yesterday, Mamdani is trapped between two worlds:
On one hand is his radical leftist base, who want him to torch the White House today — and blast that lousy racist/Islamophobic/Zionist/sexist Nazi out of the water....

By praising him and wishing him success in NYC Trump set Mamdani up with expectations higher than the sky.
Zohran “Beeblebrox” won’t be able to please anybody in NYC now.
I’m feeling that way now. I was s mad at first. I wanted to see him beat him over the head, but he showed who has the real power.
Trumps has dealt with far more seasoned communists than this wet-behind-the-ears punk
And he has a lifetime and a lot a money invested there, so he doesn’t want to see it burn.
Mandami isn’t going to be able to do but a small fraction of the promises he’s made
I hope he brought his towel.

And completely wrong. It was one of Trump's biggest mistakes of his second term.
Mamdani did his own admirable schmooze job yesterday. He may be a socialist, but he’s not a stupid man.
If I was a communist, I’d remind my comrades of the Hitler/Stalin Pact of 1939, with Mamdani playing the role of ole Uncle Joe, buying time by playing nice with the Fuehrer to set him up for a knockout punch later. Meeting with Ribbentrop in the Kremlin to sign the agreement, Stalin even proposed a toast to Hitler because “I know how much the German people love their Fuehrer.” Comrade Zohran didn’t even go THAT far.
Mamdami didnt care- he’ll do and say whatever he needs to 8n order to keep the fed $$ rolling in.

In effect Trump said, “if you are rational we are here to help you. If not rational it is all on you.”
I’m reminded of a poem “The Snake”.
I keep thinking that all this socialist drivel on his part is just an act to get elected by the useful idiots. Now that he has to face reality, he’ll be forced to tone it way down and also has to deal with all the corporation that will bribe and buy him to do their bidding.
We’ll soon see.

Mamdani does not have a chance. President Trump can ruin the guy simply by not renewing or finding alternate funding sources for the massive Covid and Green New Deal that has been artificially keeping NY on life support for the last 7 years
To float the disaster that NYC has become requires heroic levels of Presidential support, most of it discretionary.
