"It’s not an entirely surprising message in a county where a third of the votes cast in the last presidential election were for Donald Trump. Ortiz shrugs.
'Something is wrong that they don’t appreciate us here,' he says. 'We come here to work hard, to make this country better.'
While Ortiz keeps watch along the street, bakery owner Manolo Betancur stops by several times a day to make sure federal agents haven’t returned and to talk to the growing crowd that cheers loudly as he raises a large American flag alongside the coquí.
'My biggest concern right now is our children need to have their fathers and mothers next to them,' Betancur says.
'A lot of these people are so scared, they’re not going to have Thanksgiving (dinner),' adds Ortiz, standing a few feet from the locked entrance to Manolo’s."

“They don’t have no right to be in here,” she says
Oh the irony.
...make this country stronger...
What BS you here to take and not contribute outside of making crappy houses.
“The manager walks over to the store’s entry and stands watch, ready to lock the front door at the first sign of federal agents. Her friendly eyes turn slightly dark.”
So, she is a shape shifter.
“They don’t have no right to be in here,” she says.
And by the way yes, they have a right, it is called enforcing the law you violate.
The NC facebook pages show overwhelming support for ICE although you would never know it from watching the lying news on TV. 19000 kids didn’t come to school in Raleigh which shows the size of the problem.
Oh, Good Lord.
The Gaslight Media is stoking insurrection and flouting federal law.
If they expect to enforce their skeevy blue local and state laws, but not federal laws, they’ve got another think coming.
Legal immigrants and non-expired green card holders should have no fear of ICE agents as long as they are non-violent if agents asked for their documentation.
There. Fixed it.
But I'll bet they all still showed up for their free school meals. As far as the classes go, it's doubtful they would have learned anything anyway ...
Light them up. Hard to watch out for ICE when the phone wont stop ringing and the MAGAs wont stop picketing. Address:

Nailed it!
EC
They can do this in their home country.
The vile Democrats brought those millions of illegals here because they want their votes. They don’t care about the drain on our economy and the crimes they commit, they only care about power and the destruction of our country.
Shame on the Democrats for using and exploiting those people, but they’re here illegally and need to be sent home.
No sympathy here.
Exactly.
Perhaps:
All SNAP and WIC vendors should have to agree to allow ICE agents on the property to the extent food safety inspectors can go.
Perhaps federal building permits to allow ICE enforcement should be required if the permitted activity would involve interstate commerce. ICE agents should be able to go wherever building inspectors can go if any person is doing permitted work on the site.
PPACA fixing is a Congressional must.
Why not go back to where you came from and make THAT country better? Nobody ever seems to ask that question.
Give them machetes and transport to Nigeria to protect Christianity and make the country better.
